I got sledged once for wearing an eyebrow ring playing field hockey. Got into a shoving match with an opponent, his mate ran up pulling at his eyebrow and pointing at mine, shouting "what's that mate, f*cking steroids?!". I think everyone was so bewildered that the fight just sort of fizzled out.

Lol it's always amusing when sledging enters the surreal and everyone is wtf.

I remember reading Mike Atherton talking about sledges he received and there was some uber aggressive ranga bowler playing county cricket, who actually wasn't that quick, and when Atherton played and missed he screamed 'I've got better batsman than you in my fridge'

And there's not really much you can do with that. Same with your story, it just can't go anywhere.

I played in goal for a Sunday League pub (soccer) team in Liverpool and it was a shocking day weather wise . During the game, the wind and rain were blowing so hard toward me I couldn't see the ball or the players more than 15 yards ahead of me. Someone shot, I stood still and the ball went into the goal. Within a minute the referee ( of all people !!!) whipped out a pair of glasses from his top pocket and stuck them on me, saying "these might help you try next time". Everyone burst out laughing, I was dumfounded ...moved on.

(Still mentally scarred by it....)

I always enjoy the great comeback, like a reverse sledge.

Playing Reserves footy a few years ago. We were somewhat less than impressed with the umpire. After a goal we were gathered in the centre. Someone yelled "You're useless umpire". The umpie responded "What do you expect? All the good umpires are in the Seniors. Same as all the good players".

We all laughed and left him alone after that.

Later I became an umpire myself and I used that line quite a few times.

I still think the Sarwan sledge on McGrath was one of the best comebacks, but I really do like this one.

When you have to attack other people to get into the players mind/under their skin then it's going too far.

Garlett giving the fingers to Stratton was a good sledge at the time, even though they end up losing and he looked like a tool. But that was a simple gesture that would've gotten under Stratton's skin at the time.

Actually, I thought that was hilarious, and enjoyed the exchange. Hawk supporters would it if it were one of our forwards who kicked the three goals.

I hate Dangerousfield

I dislike most everything about Geelong but have a grudging admiration for Dangerwood. They carry the side and can dictate the terms of the game. I enjoy watching them play against sides other than Hawthorn.

Ye I can't bring my self to enjoying anything about Geelong playing at all

I'd love to see Geelong get beaten on their special night at their own ground

I'm actually hoping the Doggies lose. They've been hanging on by the skin of their teeth this season. I reckon a convincing Geelong win could punch a big hole in the Doggie dingy.

I think that cats are ordinary. No doubt dogs not going well but feeling just look plain shit. Still anyone's game I guess. Dogs just can't score this year so you are always in the match.

The Dogs are definitely looking more dangerous. Geelong can hardly make any space while the Dogs are bursting out all over the place. Geelong are all smash, nothing fluid.

But perhaps smash can win the day. The Dogs are burning inside 50 opportunities like a millennial going through smashed avocado.

Agree OzJ
Dogs could have been 4 goals in front
