Matera is lazy as shit. No.

Matera has no standout qualities and no flexibility to move up the ground.
Doesn't apply heavy pressure and and doesnt have high leg speed.
He's a smart VFL grade small forward who is a passenger in a losing team.
Kicked 6 against the Hawks this year.. for a late pick he's worth a spot on the list

Agree. Besides 1 or 2 decent games a year, he really doesn't add much. Maybe in a different environment he might improve on the pressure side of his game, but we already have enough smallish forwards in our list, I think we have other priorities ATM.Matera has no standout qualities and no flexibility to move up the ground.

Not sure what role he plays in our game plan though.
Our forwards need to be pretty hard running and apply heavy defensive pressure.

We have enough issues getting our talls to tackle - no reason to take on a small who doesn't.
Has great goal sense though.
May as well delist Kent if we pick up Matera. Both big talents who are let down by inconsistency and a poor work effort.
Yeah their play style isn't the same, Matera more mecurial, but both suffer the same shortcomings. Kent's pressure this season (before the game he did his shoulder) was absolutely abysmal. You could see it at the ground - didn't get anywhere near the contest. Didn't know why Goodwin was leaving him out at first, but was pretty plain to see. I would be astounded if they played 50 more games between them.Kent is decent with his pressure ( in a straight line ) and links up with the forwards ok but lacks goal scoring instincts. Matera the opposite. Both have the talent to play another 100 games but both could be gone within 20
Chasing lever says to me we want Tmac to stay a ruck forward now.
That or we aren't convinced Frost will be there next year?
He is still out of contract. Weird that he is too because he's valuable for us and I can't see why he would move unless they think his bad out weighs his good
for what it's worth...
The guy is exactly what Gil was talking about the other day about fake news becoming big stories. Most people wonder where rumours start from, Tony Sheehan is most likely that place. If he gets one thing right out of 20, he's happy with that. WTF would Lever be doing on the eve of finals, be telling the Crows he wants out to another club in the 8? No f'n way that has happened.Given we're nowhere near the trade period and Adelaide still have at least a handful of games still to play, fairly unimpressive if there's even a sliver of truth to it. More likely that whoever Tony Sheahan is is talking out of his ring and "understands" whatever is most likely to get him twitter likes, but still.

That's all a bit strange isn't it! Has to be related to Lever you'd think. He wasn't playing any worse than Harmes, Watts, and a handful of others. Plus he's crucial to our structure with Hogan out. Was a bigger statement than dropping Watts for me, as Watts was completely out of form. I'd like Frost to stay, but if it was a choice between him or Lever, there really is no choice..Tony Sheahan is a quack, but he broke the Buddy story long before anyone else.
On Frost: i'm wondering whether he's told the club he wants out. Was dropped fairly nonsensically, and there's been pretty much no word on him.
So you're saying Tony Sheehan knows, but the Crows don't? Would you be playing Jesse Hogan leading into a finals series knowing he was going to Fremantle next year? No way. Tony Sheehan is guessing. Like I said, he gets one right every now and then, and he hangs his hat on that instead of the 20 he gets wrong. He came out and said Dusty was signing a 7 year contract!I can see it being true, but it'd be a handshake agreement done through his manager. You guys are crazy if you think players haven't gone into finals series before knowing they're going to be at a rival club the next year.
I still feel like the Pies will throw some bullshit 3rd party deal at him and he'll take that for more money, but gee he'd be a great get.
