The Adelaide Crows pre-game "stance" - what would you do?

I think the opposing team should either form a human pyramid or enact the cover of the Help album.
I thought you were going to say human centipede which would have thrown the crows off their game nicely.

I think that the opposing 22 players should very calmly and deliberately untuck their penises from the shorts, link arms and start slowly slapping them back and forth on their thighs in unison as the crowd claps in tandem. You can increase the pace as the anthem comes to a close for effect if so desired. Constant eye contact with the opposition should be maintained while doing so.

For those interested google the term "slap dance" for a visual example.

edit: Safe Search should be set to "off"

If I was faced with this situation I would eyeroll furiously.

Or get all my team mates to face the other way. (only if I was captain or coach)

Dunno. Last thing a team needs in finals is a manufactured controversy about "turning the back on the national anthem" or some shit.

The biggest joke in football is commentators and fans 'reading into' what players do during the national anthem.

It means diddly squat. But people will still be like "they didn't link arms, they aren't unified!"

23 pairs of Groucho Marx glasses (coach to wear them as well).

I have to admit, the idea of the GWS team seething at this apparent show of disrespect by the Crows, shaking in rage, barely able to wait for the anthem to finish before they go and start a giant fistfight has me giggling a bit.

The Crows would all be there like "what did we do? We were just standing there" and GWS are seeing red :D

Was it effective? Maybe as an a intimidatory tactic
Do you hope they do it again? I hope its a one off.

I know they were not expecting it, but I was really disappointed in our player's response to this on Friday night. If I had been on the field (OK a long bow to draw there) but as soon as that national anthem was finished I would have run straight over and started a fight.

There had to be some sort of strong response, and it didn't happen.

What would you do?

No one can deny it had feeling and it worked the first time.

The key factor being that it was authentic.

I noticed West coas having a laugh during the national anthem and singing and enjoying it before the port game.

I think it gives a bit of an insight in to the thinking for the week leading in to the match. Crows were saying man for man we have you covered. West coast were saying the pressures off, we are here now, let's have some fun and play some footy.

I don't think it matters what we do this time as long as it's authentic. For all I care every crows player could eyeball Dangerfield and give him the finger as long as it's authentic.

A novel approach would be to just sing along with the anthem, I rarely ever see players doing that. Could even go a step further by facing the flag (if there is one), going the hand-on-heart, and maybe even letting a tear roll down the cheek. Brings heat on the opposition for coming off as disrespectful to our diggers, plus there's nothing more intimidating than over-enthusiastic token gestures of patriotism.

I don't think it really achieved anything. I didn't notice it until it was pointed out to me.

I'd rather not see or hear about it again.
