I've worked it out.

Colombo is in Sri Lanka. This is clearly a reference to Healy's comment to Arjuna Ranatunga: "You can't get a runner for being fat."
Obviously Kirby is Ranatunga. As a wicketkeeper, Nathan Murphy has to be Healy.

I'm not impressed with Murphy's comments, but am delighted that he's already best 22. At this rate, he's going to be a super star.

I'm not going to dispute what the player said about Kirby but what he said about young Daics has to be taken with a grain of salt. From what I've seen of Josh he is very skillful and composed in traffic. Both are great attributes to have.

For home and away or pre season matches I get that, but an intra club that’s effectively a simulation with tackling? Well for that I dip my lid to you!

The current regime have robbed me of that same raw passion I once had for the club. I tolerate the lows because that’s professional sport, but the way the clubs run these days that primal connection I once had is gone because the hope is manufactured.

Maybe it’ll return when I have kids of my own, but for now I couldn’t think of anything worse than 2 + hrs of driving on a hot February night when I could stream it on a 60 inch TV and sink piss from my living room.

You try streaming the game with Bendigo internet! Pre NBN I probably only got to see half the game with lots of drop outs.

His mistake was stating his "contact" said Daicos has no talent - which by any reasonable definition is completely incorrect. So therefore his contact has no credibility, and to then offer this absurd opinion on this forum as having some substance in truth, is folly.

Northpie should have said, that given how off the mark the opinion of Daicos was that he doubted whether he could trust the opinion on Kirby.
That would have been a far more reasoned response, than suggesting the statements were credible.

I’m with GC in that Northpie wouldn’t have shared if it weren’t what he/ she were told.

My thinking would be that the list management group have NFI what they’re doing at the best of times (we all remember the Mayne “mix up”) so how on earth would an unnamed player know 10 months out? Yeah him getting chopped might be a possibility, but if he comes out and averages 4-5 goals a game at VFL level and shows something at the next level I doubt he gets the snip!

On Daicos’ talent no one has actually taken that seriously I assume? Talent is the most subjective thing to gauge in sport or life in general.

People’s views can wildly differ on players. For instance Cox has less talent than most posters on this board, IMO. He in no way has the talent to succeed at the top level. What he has though is unique attributes and the right mindset! That will take you a long way, but if his talent were even moderate he’d be a multiple AA by the time he retires. The counter argument to my POV on Cox is that people will swear black and blue that he’s gotten to where he is on his natural talent which hasn’t been realised fully yet because he’s late to the game. They may even argue that those attributes and his mindset form part of his talent.

The thing is both POV’s are accurate to a degree because there’s no right or wrong to assessing talent it’s only a best guess because even the greatest professionals get it completely wrong!

Agree with all except the fact it’s definitely a statement from someone at the club. I see it this way: the only person you’d tell such scathing things to is someone you’re relatively close to, a friend or some such. If you did so you’d be doing it in confidence, and not to have your ‘friend’ post it on a public forum. The other case is of some Machiavellian tactics by Blair to ensure there’s no competition for his spot.

With the quote on Kirby the player seems to be saying "What I reckon will happen to Kirby is........" rather than saying "This is what the club is thinking or going to do...". As such it's his opinion nothing official.

I would disagree. Have spoken to lots of AFL people over time and found them mainly pretty free with their opinions and ready to chat. A lot of competitive types and a lot of egos and often as ready to bag someone they don't like as to tell you of their own feats.

I guess it depends on what kind of social awareness we’re looking at. I guess in my optimistic way I hope that people who have specific PR training against this kind of stuff would help stamp it out.

Gone Critical, can’t say I’ve talked to plenty but generally they seem competitive, yes, but also genuinely loving of the club and their job. Potting a coach or an opposition player is one thing, but a teammate I feel a bit hard to accept as common practice. Simply, if that’s your attitude you should not be playing a team sport as you’ll never make it.

Not sure TBH. It’s certainly a possibility and why I wouldn’t bother seeking live streams anymore, but I’m at a loss as to why that would impact the clubs ability to release a replay on the Monday or Tuesday?

The club has permission to record it so I doubt there’s any restrictions in place and I hazard a guess the club don’t do it by choice because it’s considered too much work...

Heard from a best 22 player Kirby is not showing enough application. This player has asked Kirby to join him with extra sessions , but kirbyrejected all invistations. His player opined that Kirby will be cut at seasin's end. He also interestingly lambasted young Daicos' ability. Said physically and talent wise should not be in the list. I don't know whether I agree with this because young Daicos looked good the only time I attended training last year. Concerning about Kirbytho. Lots of talented players have not made it because of lack of hunger.

Daicos has talent, good clean hands, moves well in traffic, good disposal so I have to refute that comment. He is on the light side but showing improvement, he may not make it but I am bullish.

The point I'm making is, that to completely dismiss DAICOS as having NO talent, is completely off the mark, and undermines the credibility of the "contact" and should have been reported in that way accordingly by Northpie.

To me this same contact has an axe to grind by bagging Daicos. Who knows what his motivation is.
