We win last week, no way is he playing this week.
Bingo.

The mini-preseason was an exceptionally rare example of the club looking beyond the current weekend. They took a step back, looked at Tex struggling physically rather than simply looking at next Saturday's opposition, decided that he just wasn't right and really needed a block of fitness work/break from matches to get him back to top form.

Bravo club. Wouldn't have needed to have happened if we made a sensible call with Tex back in Feb/Mar but better late than never.

A battle plan works well right up until the first bullet is fired. Our forward-thinking, pragmatic player management lasted two losses.

No one lives the one week at a time ethos better than our club.

Are you insane. You want to drop more senior players when we have six of our best dozen players out.
The side is struggling because we have had to play so many inexperienced players as it is and you want to bring in more.
Well at least if you were selecting the side we would have a good chance at Rankine.

Our senior players are shit, and never held accountable.

We aren’t struggling because of the kids, we’re struggling because our senior players are flat track bullies or just plain shit.

But hey, let’s put Milera on the HFF and keep showing faith in Perrenial failures.

Wasn't it 3 weeks since he played ?? That's probably enough.

If Lynch doesn't have an injury I reckon he misses, regardless of winning or losing

So if players beneath them barely touched it in the SANFL it's still ok to bring them into the senior side.

Yup - which we wouldn’t have to do, if we actually had accountability at selection, because we would’ve already dropped some of these duds and underperformers.

Well....with 30 odd possessions gone from across half back. I’m tipping we see the making of Dmac this week.
30 + 10 = 40 possession game. His first BOG performance and 3 Brownlow votes up for grabs ;)

GO DMAC !!!!

I'd say both. We are struggling because our best performed senior players are either injured, coming back from injury, or Sauce who is cooked

So if you're underperforming in the reserves, you get brought up just because.

That's not the way good clubs work.

Thanks Mick.
If we need a summary of all the rumours on social media we will give you a call.

You argued with such passion and certainty I was convinced that you were in the change rooms at half time in the grand final, standing next to Tex.

Rowe said it was true on 5aa. If you don't believe that, that's your choice. I certainly think something is wrong with the culture atm, the rumours about arguments before the Melbourne game and the performance we put in. The leaks about pre season camp. That happened. Someone leaked that info to the press. It shouldn't happen at well ran clubs where everything is going well.

Lynch flat track bully.
Douglas flat track bully.
Jenkins flat track bully.
Jacobs appears to be falling off the cliff.
Mackay is shit.

Those guys should be the core of the side, instead, they’re liabilities.

It's Rowey, so very little he says is believable

Douglas was good last week, Lynch yes, Jenkins pre this year yes, Jacobs definetly cooked and I'm not sure you'd find anyone disagreeing with Mackay

19 touches at 52% and 2.4 isn’t a good game from Douglas - it’s another ‘nearly’ game.

So gifting a player a game who would be worse is a good idea.

Yep - at least it means players are held accountable for poor performances.

But it was also extravagant.

I have no doubt that if Laird and lynch werent out they may have kept him out. But things change and he is needed.

Its hardly panic, it realising we don't have the flexibility we thought we did amd adjusting accordingly.

Well he has more contacts at the club than anyone here that I know about so I'm willing to take his word on this one. What reason would he have for backing up the story if it weren't true? It certainly doesn't help the perception of the club so, I would find it more feasible that he would say nothing happened if it did to protect the club from the story.

What you are describing is literally panic

We're not bringing Tex back based on his own recovery and fitness levels. Other factors have forced our hand and rushed us into urgently filling the leadership vacuum.

It's better than we got from pretty much everyone else.

I also get making players accountable, I do, but the players available would be in most SANFL 2s sides.

Be

cause the kids played crap.

There is a lot of “do something! do anything! it doesn’t even matter if it’s stupid, just do Something” going on at the moment.

Fair enough to call for change if you can name a specific change, but the whole “just drop senior players” makes me think of 1980s amateur football.
McKay for Wilson
Atkins for Gaucc
Kelly for Hampton

There's 3 I don't think we lose too much with

The consistent message was that Tex would be ready for the Hawks match. If he was struggling with injury then it would have been easy to say “after the bye”.

Perhaps they chose the Hawks match because they were not keen to bring him back and then play him again after a six day break. If we are 7-6 at the break, we are still a reasonable chance to make the Eight. At 6-7 there is no coming back.

We now must win at least one of the next two matches and the Freo without Fyfe is more likely than #freekickhawthorn. Perhaps it was decided to play Tex on sunday and then give him another two weeks off. Perhaps The FOG is injured.

Whilst Sandilands will dominate the ruck, the loss of Fyfe and 2 X Hills means we can win this game despite all the injuries.
