Luckily Jericho only played 33 games. Atkins has doubled that and there's no signs of him getting dropped

Jericho is a Premiership player.
SANFL
Maybe that’s where Atkins needs to be.

So it's out officially that Sauce has a sore back, and its rumoured ROB does too.

Just play Jenkins as a tall rock rover with Otten as a chopout.

Late out?

I hate it when they play players with issues like Sauce. His form drops, he takes a battering when he’s hindered and he’s not playing well anyway.

Try something different, as you said ruck Jenkins whose done **** all lately anyway.

I mean he's our leading goalkicker and all...... but I don't wanna get into that discussion again.

My point is that Josh would at least provide something around the ground, as would Otten. Problem is I'm led to believe Jenkins is also carrying 2 injuries.

He has kicked 6 goals in our last 5 games, last week was the first time he’s kicked multiple goals in that stretch of games and that was 2. I think Otten could manage that.

Given the crap sandwich our mids have shown it's a wonder how anyone kicked goals.

In any case, a Jenkins/Otten combination would be far more effective than Jacobs is currently. Better skilled, quicker (even Otto) and more flexible.

Do we actually lose anything if Sauce just stands at the bounce and doesn't even reach for the ball?

It might actually be to our advantage not having him tap it to their mids, leaving our mids flatfooted.

Will Tom Mitchell be the first player in the history of the AFL to rack up 60 possessions?

He coped another hit to his shoulder against Fremantle
And now we're talking so openly about it. He'll keep getting hit every week until he can't play anymore.

Sometimes we are quick to judge footballers for thier mistakes. Right now we have blokes who shouldn't be playing, having to play.

Interesting little snippet in the paper today about Nat Fyfe. Didn't handle losing the 2013 grand final too well, lost motivation, considered walking away from the game. Took a while to get it back.

Cey, Greenwood and Mcrouch are unfit or sore because they have cost us this year
o_O Hang on, what?
Do you mean they have cost us this year because they're unfit or sore?
Greenwood's still building his engine, but has been one of our best this year, an asset.
CEY was definitely lazy outside the contest, but did his best work inside (getting the ball, tackling).
Mrouch (obviously) is underdone, having come back from Injury.

Our midfield was supposed to be Crouch, Crouch, Sloan, Gibbs ....with Douglas, Greenwood and perhaps CEY running through at times.
Crouch Bros, Sloane and Gibbs also run both ways and defend well. What a midfield that would have been! :( :'(
Alas....a midfield we will probably never see play together :(. ....thanks Burton
... don't forget Hass! We can't rely on those two to get Brouch back to his best, either. I still think there's a fair chance Sloane will go (no inside info, just a hunch based on he would have signed by now, otherwise). The best we can hope for in 2019 is Mrouch, Gibbs, Greenwood, hopefully Brouch and Douglas at times, and CEY ONLY IF he learns to defend on the outside.

Have enough players like that on your list, and you never get back there. Like they haven’t.
My point wasn't that it's ok that we're doing bad because Fyfe struggled.

Having three decent finals winning seasons in a row, culminating in a minor premiership and grand final favouritism was a journey. It led from our worst ever moment (Walsh) to the brink of our best and crashed back to our worst ever onfield moment.

Emotional wringer. Three years of effort for nothing.

The mis-reading by the coaching staff of our squad post GF is stunning. They just figured the players were weak and needed some mental hardness so they don't falter on the big stage again.

Actually they were all probably grappling to some degree with 'what's the point of it all' thoughts, like Fyfe did, and needed something completely different to refresh, regain the fire and challenge again.

What we did - ramping up the workload and being harder on the players is what Craig would have done.

Jenkins isnt good enough to be a pure forward. Needs to chop out in the ruck way more than he currently does.

With Walker back an Otten/Jenkins rotation may not be too bad.
