He spoke about this at length tonight. He said that he is angry with himself that he didn't do it when he kicked off his AFL career as he looks back and feels embarrassed by the things that he said to Aboriginal players at the club over his time. Didn't shy away from that at all to his credit. Say's he's a different person now and has done a lot of growing up since then.

We'll see.

Wonder of he regrets anything he said to Wingsrd, or is that a different issue.

Doubt it. I’m thinking he was just the mouthpiece...
Ah, I heard some inside info too about dissatisfaction from others so you are probably on the money.
No. He was talking about his playing days specifically.
Thanks, there’s a link up from Boss now, will have a listen. I like it when someone can admit they were wrong. Good on him.

Couple of other interesting things in the Monty interview.
Said Scott Thompson has been elevated ( to what I don’tknow)
Also Monty has done a lot of opposition analysis and loves the tactical part of the game.. another layer to his coaching. Did it at Bulldogs and for GWS. Believes a coach’s tactical acumen improves due to it.
Presented well.

Monty rather effusive in his praise for Ken and how highly regarded he is in coaching circles.
Bad Monty.

Good Monty.

how do you figure this?
a guess?
Ummm 1 finals appearance in 4 years (which was a loss) when having a list which most football experts have us top 4 or at least top 8. So then we can tow club line and put it down to badluck and circumstances or poor decisions or complacency. Mixture of all 3 imo. So yes, corner cutting in the mix.

The toilet roll change principle from Ken in 2013 has been lost from the messaging i hear from club and players. So on a positive note i sincerely hope our new coaches reinstate these key principles so they become infectious and we start winning those close games due to 100% hunger and team values.

Love our new coaching additions and changes. Schofield looks the real deal, and I know everyone is very stoked to have him. But listening to Monty's 5aa interview, I was hugely impressed!! For once SRowe didn't dick around, and asked some seriously pointed and good questions. Monty's response was instant, unhesitating, and very clear. No dodging.

Very impressive I thought.

Yes I agree. I thought the same about Rowey’s questions. Either he has ha a kick up the bum about his poor interview technique or, knowing Monty’s personality, he thought he might have got a juicy response. Monty did well.

That's great to hear. I thought the club had made an error by not having Thompson in our game day midfield team. He would have outstanding IP from the Crows and, more specifically, Walsh. I thoroughly hope to see he and Schofield working together on the midfield. If it's not that, I'll be disappointed.

When you hear an interview with a new coach and they say "I'm loyal to this club" and it doesn't sound like insincere cringe.

I'm moist.

And Broges is there to keep the peace.
So, recently I started driving Uber. The other night a job comes up and says "Dean". I drive around the corner in the city and standing on the footpath was Dean Brogan, Chad Cornes, Dominic Cassisi and their partners. The others all went out somewhere else, but Broges got me to take him home. I was a bit star-struck!

Anyway on the way we had a good chat about Port, the current state of things, 2004, and so on. I asked him which ex-players tended to socialise with others more and he said he, Chad and Dom were really good mates. He also said Carry and someone I don't remember were out with them earlier in the evening.

Talking about Port 2018/19, Broges said Hinkley needs to get back to what he first focused on when he came to the club - attacking football - kicking enough goals to win. It's not really a secret to anyone that we need to kick more goals.

Also talked about Clarkson and Walsh - great guys and hard, very hard guys - "old school".

I told Broges I was always a Choco fan, especially after 2004, and that quite a few people on the BF Port board were not. I asked him his opinion of Choco and he said "Oh mate, I love him!". But again, "hard man" and "old school". He said Choco didn't talk to him at all until some time during 2004 - not a single word.

He gave me a drunk "Dean Brogan" signature and said he loved talking to fans like me and if I ever see him again to come up and say hi. A memorable uber pick-up.

How long have you been back in Adelaide Pred?

Excellent pick up! Here's hoping my buddy Broges and the rest of his new coaching colleagues can get the message through to Ken :thumbsu:

About 18 months now mate! How are you doing?
Alright. You needed to speak up. There were beers at the game opportunity missed. Not next year.

Do people think that some of our younger players would benefit from going on such trips, so they can better understand indigenous teammates ?
