Interesting that all the Crows media releases highlight Gibbs and Greenwood added to the squad (1st paragraph and email Subject line) then add Gooch/Berg in the next paragraph as "also added")

If I’m reading this right, we’ve slowed it down because we’re kicking it to loose defenders plus we have a lack of confidence in our forwards to mark or create a contest.

The way I see it is this is what we need to do:

1) Have midfielders who can deliver. Losing Seeds hurts here. That’s why Milera is crucial to play midfield. I would also move Smith to the wing. They are our best two remaining kicks and it’s time to move Jones into the midfield has he’s got a good kick and seems to make good choices.

2) Defenders who can provide more run, Sholl and Gibbs to defence and we are about to drop Murphy it seems, he needs to go back to the SANFL and play back pocket, then he replaces Kelly.

3) Forwards who can mark and provide a contest. Himmelberg in for Jenkins seems like it will happen, good start. Greenwood to spend equal time up forward and in defence. He can mark and his strength is his contest work.

I love Tex but he needs lift, too many times instead of going for the mark he goes one handed to try and tap it down. We don’t need a tapper, we need someone who can mark and create a contest. Fog would have to be a consideration but we won’t drop Tex. If they are going to keep trialling Fog down back to be an intercept defender then just bring him in for Hartigan and offers none of that, at least Fog can kick.

You’re right, they’re naming him to show that JJ COULD be dropped. He won’t be, but in a performance based industry, it’s a possibility. It’s not, but it could be and naming Himmelberg is the proof of that.
