Bad luck guys. It was an immense lift from your team when I presumed you’d be blown away. We were hanging on with broken fingernails and got lucky today. Saad, Daniher, Stringer - v impressive.

Today the better side won, thought you could have been further in front at quarter time and showed why the Pies are a top four side. I loved the Moore v Daniher battle in the first half, didn't know Moore was such a good defensive player, always saw him as a forward.

Collingwood lost (narrowly) to then flag favourites Richmond twice last year.

In the finals it was a different story.

Am I saying we are going to go on some fairytale run from here and go deep into September? No. But sometimes losses like today against quality opponents can have a galvanising effect.

I can kind of accept most of the bad umpiring. Normally the team that's getting the ball into the 50 quickly will be the beneficiary of umpiring mistakes but that Tippa high contact free oh boy, that was an absolute stinker.

Oh you just reminded me we play the cats and selwood next week. I can't wait for his free kicks.

7 frees for 5 against this season. Don't take anything Crows supporters say about as gospel. They hate us as much as the Hawfies do.

Walla has a habit of drawing high free kicks with his actions and the umpires have finally woken up - None were free kicks with the way the game has been umpired for the last year

There was one late in the second that could have been paid and maybe one in the last quarter but they did seem high. The umpiring was just bad, we had one or two that were just soft so it went both ways.

I didn't like it when Hooker out-bodied Cox, took the mark and got a free against. Cox annoys me a lot because he acts like a peanut outside of footy, but he has a lot of 'hurt factor' when he's on. He's well aware of his size and how to use it and his flops are fairly subtle.

The Pendle Duck and Flop

It’s somehow neither a duck, a flop or a free kick.

He received contact but it wasn’t head high because his head was already so low getting the ball.

Is it not just play on?

Cast your minds back to Hurley doing that vs Swans in Sydney one night.
He ducked into Hannebery.
He was derided by all and sundry... no free kick, no report.
Near lost his head but was told to look after himself better...
Today it was a free kick and we're the bad guys.
I cast my mind back to mitch robinson doing it to david hille, then hille argues with the ump and drives his head into robinson's guts to prove his point - and the bloody ump gives Hille the free!

You guys have just been robbed blind!!!
Yeah-if you ignore the Baguley free and goal and the 'push in the back free against Grundy when he never went near the back of his opponent
or the throw by Tipungwuti to Daniher all of which resulted in goals. The frees Essendon are squealing about all happened in our forward fifty so at best they would have been a free kick deep in their defensive half.

I thought the umps were just bad both ways but they missed two or three in Essendon's forward 50, not that the umps can be blamed for the result as Essendon had opportunities to win from Hepps post, Shiel missing one from in front or his shot that could have bounced through or Parish going for a handball instead of kicking for goal.

The Pendle Duck and Flop

I actually thought that was a clear free kick for high contact. I’m more than happy to be shown that I’m wrong.

It takes a sad sad person to come to an opposition board after a win and post in their autopsy board.

Well done.

Get your blinkers off you clown.

If you don’t think the umpiring impacted both ways your opinion isn’t worth the bandwidth it’s taking up.

McDonald-Tipungwuti has his head ripped off 5 times for no result and Hooker had a free paid against him for taking a contested mark

In fairness to Parish he is not a foward. He is an inside mid and has always been one. Until he gets a decent run at it in that position he won't be wowing to many people. He should be given a go in Myers' spot imo. Sadly not sure woosh and co are big fans though.

1. Watch Ambrose in isolation. He stops well short of contacting Pendleboory.
2. Look at Merrets right leg, it remains back while his arms move in to the ball.
3. Now watch Pendlebury in isolation and look to see if he is driving his head forward.

Hilarious. You tell me to take my blinkers off and concede that umpiring impacted both ways when all your whole board has done with rare exception is talk about the way the umps crucified Essendon. I was lending some objective factual balance. Cox missed the kick on goal for that soft free as did Brown. So the net result is you scored at least 3 goals from clearly incorrect decisions and I don't believe we scored any from our good fortune from the umps. You copped some bad ones too, but most on this thread are claiming you were screwed by the umps. I beg to differ.

Not saying whether you’re right or wrong but you’re far from objective.
