Stephen May caught drinking and now he’s faxing ‘personal issues’.
Melbourne fans must be eating humble pie. Wanted Hogan gone for his alleged behavior off the field. May has been injured, unfit and clearly underdone since he arrived. He was meant to be their saviour down back. Weidemann is a developing forward who is supposedly going to kick goals. McDonald too. How that absolutely backfired on them.
Hogan worked bloody hard to get fit, was meant to be out for a long period. Kudos to him, has the work ethic.

I’m happy enough he was fined rather than completely cleared. It was very late, it was so high he actually left the ground to hit him, and he got him in the head. He didn’t break a bone or knock him out. At the minimum a fine was warranted.

Neither was Fyfe’s

Wasn’t as bad as Fyfe’s imo but we are talking small differences in terms of impact. Both were equally as intentional (ie extremely careless but not at all intentional).

Downgrading the grading of a suspension seems to be the norm this year - almost every week it seems to happen.

The reason being off the ground at the time of the hit is a factor is because it increases the risk of injury, and possibly serious injury. To minimize the chance of such injury, any time this sort of incident occurs there should be a suspension. You increase the risk of someone getting injured if you judge on how hard the hit was or how much the other player was hurt.
There is much less chance of anyone getting badly hurt in the future if there is a blanket rule which penalises this sort of hit, regardless of severity of the hit.
