It’s actually embarrassing the standard of our comics vrs OS

I'd suggest we're better at satirical sketch type shows rather than straight up non pc stand up

I is hard to argue that the level of comedians in this country are high when you look at people like Lawrence Mooney and Dave Hughes.

It seems most of the good ones go overseas to take their careers forward.

Ronnie Chieng is probably our best at the moment but he’s not at all controversial because he’s Chinese Australian, would his jokes still be funny if preformed by Carl Barron?

I thought he was Malaysian Australian.

I went to a show of his and didn't find it overly anti pc.

Funny in parts but tbh if I had to choose between Carl Barron and Ronny Chieng, I'd probably choose Carl Barron, albeit that his comedy is not of that style at all.

Steven Hughes probably challenges societal constructs more from what I've seen of him, although I've not seen him in person.

I didn’t mean who’s our best anti pc comic, just who’s our best comic at the moment. Sure he’s Malaysian Australian, but what’s more Australian then a immigrant?

The reality is authoritarian right wing movements have always been a consequence of the rise of authoritarian left wing movements, fascism has been a non-issue in the world since post WW2 when communism was sweeping the globe like a virus, the last of the fascist regimes which was formed during the time of WW2 was the Spanish Franco regime that endured through mediocrity until the mid 70s but was ended by the Spanish Miracle which were economic reforms which brought prosperity to the people and they in turn rejected fascism.

I know people from South America who'd disagree with that.

From which country and how far back?

Argentina: Federal Presidential Constitutional Republic
Bolivia: Unitary Presidential Constitutional Republic
Brazil: Federal Presidential Constitutional Republic
Chile: Unitary Presidential Constitutional Republic
Colombia: Unitary Presidential Constitutional Republic
Ecuador: Unitary Presidential Constitutional Republic
Guyana: Unitary Presidential Constitutional Socialist Republic
Paraguay: Unitary Dominant-Party Presidential Republic
Peru: Unitary Semi-presidential Republic
Suriname: Unitary Parliamentary Republic
Uruguay: Unitary Presidential Constitutional Republic
Venezuela: Federal Presidential Constitutional Republic

I think most of these countries have been dysfunctional for a very long period of time with extreme levels of corruption and cronyism, many have been prone to dictators or military intervention from time to time, however, fascism is often confused with any form of authoritarianism and it is not the same.

Many of the south american tyrants over the years have been more about grabbing and holding on to power rather than believing in the fundamental tenets of fascist ideology. This is why the vocabulary has been blurred with a lack of nuance, people calling conservatives or even far right people Nazis when they do not believe in the ideology does a lot of harm, as does trying to associate any power hungry politician as a fascist, we are watering down the meaning of words that were used to define the most reprehensible of ideologies, when people start watering them down, like comparing conservatives to Nazis then it confuses people who look at conservative policy and ideology and think there isn't anything too bad with it and potentially weakens their resilience against more extreme political groups.

The 70s and 80s. Espcially Argentina and Chile. Even more especially Pinochet. South America was full of Falangists and real Nazis escaping from Europe after ww2. And ultimately its just a stupid semantic difference to call right wing death squads organised by governments anything other than fascism.

My neighbor is a Lebo Muslim, they’re currently in the month of Ramadan. I’ve never eaten so bloody well. At about 6 him and his wife pass some of the feast through the fence (He’s got young daughters like me and they’ve knocked out some pails in the fence and our girls pretty much just go back and forth from house to house)

The food is absolutely delicious. Usually bbq meats, salad, pickled vegetables, bread and dips. Last night they gave us a dip made up of raw meat and some other stuff, can’t remember what it’s called and I was a bit sus on it at the start but bloody hell it was good.

Best neighbours ever!

We know from the investigation into the Watergate scandal that Pinochet was a CIA puppet, the UP was the first democratically elected socialist government in latin america and promoted a peaceful transition towards socialism, the USA didn't want Cubas popping up all over the place. That is when the USA destabilised Chile's economy, pretty much the same way they have done to Venezuela, and then got a hatchet man on the payroll to basically round up and execute all the communists who would likely have taken over once Chile converted to a socialist nation.

To call it fascism would be to inaccurately not give the USA due credit for being the puppet master.

It is true there were a lot of escaped Nazis in latin america after WW2, however, there isn't any credible historical evidence to suggest they had any significant political influence.

A lot of these countries got dragged into the cold war between socialism/communism vs the united states and for the nations that had strong communist or socialist roots the war wasn't very cold. Even in Greece, where my parents come from, have had significant communist/socialist roots and have had ties with Russia going back to before USA existed and it has caused a lot of issues for the country.

United Australia Party ad for this Saturday's election claims Labor and Bill Shorten want to tax us an extra $1 trillion.

Now if my maths is any good l've worked out that is an extra $93, 300 a year for our working population of 10,500,000.

How can such outrageous claims be made is beyond me.

What’s his deal? I reckon he just thought, I’m so rich I’m going to have a crack at the election just so I can tell everyone how rich I am.

When I was in Africa I was fortunate enough to spend a day with some Burundi refugees as they were celebrating Eid, and not only was the food great, but they were so generous and welcoming, even though I didn't know them and I'm not a Muslim myself. It was an incredible experience.

I was out walking the dogs on Sunday morning and as per usual there was an old guy out the front of a church ready to greet people. He gets there early to set up and read the paper as the sun comes up. Super nice, always smiling, very welcoming. My dogs love him too. This week he gave me a present. Said his wife made it for the dogs. Got home and it was some dog jumpers she had knitted. I'm not a Christian myself but they really are nice.

That rant was phenomenal.
Oh yeah. Some people just have a gift. That's some Al Pacino 'any given sunday' type s**t. Part of the reason I love Alex Jones. I've always dreamt of being a Alex Jones/Joel Osteen type ranter to speak to my followers. Jordie just made my list of top passionate ranters. Football coaches need to have that to fire up the troops.

Was it kibbeh?
