Why do they have more of a right?
You might be surprised to learn that yelling campaigner in public is against the law. Taking your kids to the football is not.

Bizarre comment. Where is the actual evidence? Just because the media is paying more attention doesn't mean it's happening.What is wrong with you?
Because the conditions of entry say so?Why do they have more of a right?
not to do any of the following in or around the Venue:
- engage in any conduct, act towards or speak to any player, umpire or other official or other patron in a manner, or engage in any conduct, which threatens, offends, insults, humiliates, intimidates, disparages or vilifies that other person on any basis including, but not limited to, that other person’s race, religion, colour, descent or national or ethnic origin, special ability/disability or sexual orientation, preference or identity;
- use indecent or obscene language or threatening or insulting words, or otherwise behave in a threatening, abusive, riotous, indecent or insulting manner;

What did it say?
It creates a media shitstorm for the next week. She has the opportunity to do a whole heap of freelance journalism. She probably got paid for her 3aw interview.Why is it smart for her to call it out? What does she gain?
But how do we know it's not simply people paying more attention? It's become a big issue, people are bound to pay more attention to it. Others have said (on here and on Twitter in response to Jon Ralph) that they haven't noticed it.And what constitutes "actual evidence" to you btw? It HAS been noticeable to a whole bunch of people that have gone to the footy this week so far...have u been reading the thread?
I am not sure who it was, it may have been Orwell, with some aphorism on self censorship being more insidious than an authority's censorship. hecksake u have orange jacketed security walking up a down the aisle of the cheersquadThe nazi/communist analogies are obvious hyperboles, but enforcing corporate like compliance on sports crowds isn’t particularly great.
Especially when the afl have lied about its implementation, let alone its true purpose, which is corporate ass covering.

+1keep in mind Nat Edwards works for AFL.com, so she's effectively calling out her employer

Stop being excited at the footy and there will be no need for security to watch your every move.Not sure if mentioned but was at tonight’s game, and think it was during the last quarter when Carlton were making their come back, and it’s was going nuts. around the whole ground there was security walking up and down the aisles almost in unison.
Re wrote it. NOT sure why. Probs a spelling errorHow did he revise it?
Wait. So where was the fight?
Agree. People are now noticing security that have always been there patrolling the aisles where as previously they ignored it and watched the game. People get thrown out and talked to every week but now the cameras are focussing on it. Can't believe that journalist tweet that she felt scared to barrack, just shows how twisted and brainwashed people have become with their sheep like following of modern media.Also think there might be a bit of confirmation bias going on here. Reckon people are going to the game with the pre-conceived belief that there has been an unfair 'crackdown' and are looking for reasons and instances that support this notion. The answer is probably somewhere in the middle as it is in most things in life.
Truth is a defence; the cornerstone of journalism (and calling pollies campaigners).So if I call my neighbour a campaigner tomorrow I'm the one in the wrong ? Even though the guy is a politician ?![]()
incorrect, this zeitgeist has manipulated us to think we are 'unsafe'. BS, we live in Australia, there is no internecine conflict in Australia.Making others feel uncomfortable or unsafe for no real reason.

Afl members isn't special. In fact there is more filth in there.Security too busy kicking out peasants in GA or club member areas for looking at them funny.
Easy to say that if you're a straight white male. Not assuming you are, but I probably would have said the same thing a few years ago. Unfortunately too many female, queer and coloured friends have had poor experiences for me to truly believe that.incorrect, this zeitgeist has manipulated us to think we are 'unsafe'. Because they are just words.Why do you feel that people should have the right to "constantly swear" around young children? Just interested in your side of the argument is all...
