its not really my opinion but there is a perception strong body inside mids type sometimes have lesser upside hence they slip to picks 25-60.

Can't break into the Hawks AFL side though, and when he does he is serviceable at best.

You can't use VFL (or SANFL/WAFL/NEAFL) form to indicate how good a player will be at the top level.
It isn't just about getting to AFL and having one good game either - it is about sustaining the form required to consistently perform.

Sometimes they do make the transition very well (e.g. Tim Kelly), the majority of the time they do not.

Not at all. He is definitely a fan favourite. His ability to get the best out of himself on Grand Final day only adds to his likeablity. He was robbed of the Norm Smith in 2005.
