Josh Caddy - The one that got away

He was solid for us when he had a defined role as a marking medium sized forward before Lynch got there. One of those seasons resulted in a top 10 finish in the Coleman.

Unfortunately, we don't have any room for him up forward and have tried him in several other positions but his lack of pace has hurt.

Not ro mention his undisciplined nature. Got dropped a few times for giving away dumb 50m penalties.

I do think he woukd do well for a club wanting to strengthen it's forward line forna couple of years but I do think Caddy's time with us is almost up.

Cats supporters salty as we got him cheap.
seriously not salty
Don't rate him like a Lynch who is a genuine star.
Caddy was perfect for what you could use, and he thought his opportunities with us were limited as a mid, which they were, and we had Menzel as that small high marking forward

Has this bloke had his papers stamped yet?

Fooled some people for a while, but continues to show why most Cats fans weren't fussed about him leaving.
46 goals in 2017 and close to AA squad. The game has got quicker and quicker, and Caddy hasn't. Don't forget he played mainly reserves last year, and has only played the last few this year, so I think we all know where he sits.

Lets look at his attributes -
Quick? No
Good skills? Average
Marking ability? Average
Tackling ability? Average

Just an average player overall lucky to be in a good team for a few years
He has plenty of skill, is good overhead for his size and is a good kick. Slow. But last night he was awful especially early. (Accidentally liked your post).

In retrospect Hardwick did well finding value out of him in 2019 once Lynch arrived. He started slowing down even at Geelong, and never became the midfielder everyone wanted him to be (with hype to match).

Has to settle for playing well in two premiership teams.

Had alotve injuries but for a bloke who most think is average has played finals nearly every year of his career, two flags, rising star nominee and over 170
games not bad.
Reckon him and Parfitt would be alright with the trade and there’s no doubt Parfitt will be better for longer.
However, the interesting question is
What if we had have had Parfitt and you had Caddy...would you maybe have won a flag?
Hmmm
Dunno, maybe.
I don’t really care

I dont think he was that low down the list, but he played a very important role in 2017 and he was a major player in our run at a flag in 2018 kicking 46 goals.

2019 Flag he actually played a very very good game and probably ranked in the top 12 for us.

Exactly. Fantastic player at that time. Probably unlucky not to be AA in 2018

His 2018 season as a medium forward was bloody elite, unlucky not to be AA that year

But other than that he has been just an average at best player

Not at all. Think it worked out well for both sides.
True.
True.
Classic win-win.
This.
Tigers identified a need at the time and needed more experience in the side, he was getting squeezed out of the cats team so the trade was made

Cats did well and scored a great young player and Caddy helped us win a couple of flags

Dunno why people need to break it down to a pissing contest when it clearly worked out well for both clubs witch is a good thing

You would have won that 17 flag without Caddy, and without Parfitt.
Could see it when you smashed teams at the end of the 17 season.
Caddy would have been selected 21, 22, but good luck to him. He has made the most of his opportunities and landed in a possible GOAT team.
