Just an average player overall lucky to be in a good team for a few years
Very opportunistic. He correctly sought greener pastures because he could not get a MF game ahead of Danger, Selwood, Duncan, Guthrie, Menegola, and even Scott Selwood. Was very fortunate that those around him at Tigerland formed a superb team.
Right team, right time.
I could guarantee Tigers would prefer Parfitt to Caddy every week.

When played forward his marking and kicking for goal was elite. he cost us bugger all when you consider the fact he helped deliver flags.

Fyfe and patty Cripps are both not that quick and have average skills so going buy your definition are they average players as well

Yea he's a forward. Reads it well fwd but still due to his speed if forward pressure isn't coming from others like it has been I think Hardwick is preferring him as a mid.

Yeah Lynch actually replaced him and he hasnt been able to lock down another spot.

He should be a beast inside mid, not sure why he hasnt been able to become one.

He would have been your 21/22 player in those GF wins- no crime there, every team needs them.

For his size and provenance (186cm mid) he was surprisingly good overhead.

Converted at 63% for us (88.52) which puts him in the top 20% for accuracy.

Hardwick is on record as saying he's one of the smartest players he's coached.

You don't survive 170+ games without having some virtues.

And yes he was slow. I was initially shocked at how slow.

I guess so. Eventually the game catches up with every player, just happens sooner for some players

I dont think he was that low down the list, but he played a very important role in 2017 and he was a major player in our run at a flag in 2018 kicking 46 goals.

2019 Flag he actually played a very very good game and probably ranked in the top 12 for us.

Speed just seems more important every year I reckon and thats his biggest flaw.

Doesn't lay tackles, doesn't chase (and doesn't really have the acceleration or top speed for running anyone down anyway), just not fond of getting his shorts dirty and that's what's holding him behind others.

Shame cause he was a decent forward, just like you say Lynch replaced him and he can't play small forward.

Yeah he was alright, still one of the last picked imo it was just cos we had no-one else ahead of him who could really play on the wing but Picket and Maccas has gone past him in that now.

Yeah so he's playing a KPF game without the height. If he gets a favourable matchup he could do well but an unfavourable match up and they run off him at will

He’s what? 29?

Plenty of guys in that middle rung of talent tend to get squeezed out around 29/30 - especially in the better teams where the standards are higher.

Caddy has a higher profile off the back of a bit of early mystique at GC (when every young kid was going to be a star) and then a bit more at Geelong (where every new recruit is the missing piece in a flag…). By the time he even got to Richmond, his reputation outweighed his output.

Parfitt wouldn’t have been in our 2017 22 which caddy was.
Mutual benefit I suppose.

He was a very good player for a couple of years. 2017 and 2018 he had a clear role as a pseudo second marking target up forward and also a rotational midfielder, kicked 21 and 46 goals in those two years.

His problems started when Lynch arrived, he no longer had a need as a second marking target, and because of that they tried to force him into a runner and a midfielder again, which he is not.

Square peg in a round hole, too small to be a genuine marking forward long term and too slow and lacks nous to be a genuine midfielder.

In all likelihood, we probably part ways with him at end of year. He's not really going to take us forward and he's probably just keeping games from a kid like a Stack, Ralphsmith, RCD, Martyn, Dow etc.
