clarkson to collingwood, i said it before the season started when graham wright rocked up. everyone laughed said clarko will never leave hawks.

well well well here we are in july with clarko gone.

come to collingwood clarko, we'll give you 10 years

Eagles, GWS or GCS

Although if I were Chris Scott I'd be a little concerned, A Geelong team with Clarko would result in a fourpeat EASILY.

LOL.

Who'd you say it too?
Yo Mamma?

You'd take him because more coaches out there are rubbish, but he does come with a bit of baggage now. He's basically destroyed Hawthorn and it will take them at least a decade now to get out the sh*t.

It takes the gloss off 4 premierships because it's come at a ruinous cost. He destroyed the club trying to get number 5.

The list is utterly destroyed and that's 100% on Clarko because he was driving the acquisition of those speculative mature players like Vickery, Wingard, Scully, etc. Clarko seemed to think he could work his magic and turn their careers aroudn, but none of them have worked out except Mitchell and he's just a handball machine anyway.

I think the game has passed him by in a way, doesn't have the stomach to see a rebuild through. If he went to Carlton it's a 5-10 year project.

There wouldn't be a hawks supporter who would remotely agree surely. won 4 of the last 12 flags and you think it comes at a cost?
All clubs go through rebuilds, Hawthorn did it the right way. They won and kept trying to win while they thought they could. Maybe one year to long but who cares after you have won 3 in a row.
The other option is to be forever in a rebuild like 90% of AFL clubs and keep putting faith in unknown kiddies. Not a coincidence that Hardwick and Clarkson both kept trading in players to win flags with now instead of drafting for 6 years time.
Hawks fans can rejoice in watching their 3peat for the next few years while they get back on track and in that same time clubs who have been rebuilding and drafting kiddies for years will still not of won a flag and or even looked like they will.
What the Hawks have done over the last 20 years every single club should be copying.

Surprised Port Adelaide aren’t considered an option here. Ken Hinkley has underachieved as their coach.
If there’s no flag this year, Hinkley’s coming up to 10 seasons without a flag which should be a warning sign for him.

Daniher, B.Scott and Buckley all left midway through their 10th season and hadn’t coached to a flag.

Cant speak to Daniher but Scott and Buckley were both near the bottom of the ladder when they were shown the door. Hinkley doesn't have that problem as while Port probably won't win the flag in 2021 they are one of the better teams this year.

exactly. The bottom three rungs on the ladder are now occupied by clubs who didn’t deliberately ‘bottom out’ which IMHO is a club killer anyway. It only worked circa ‘super drafts’ like 2001, but some clubs seem to think they can keep doing it over and over.

it will be interesting to see how hawks crows and kangaroos fare going forward

Here's a smokey for everyone....

Melbourne

If they continue with the average performances, and then get bundled out and embarrassed in the finals, (highly likely), don't be surprised if Melbourne look at him.

Dees believe they their time is ripe for a flag, maybe Clarko can get them there
