They have better top end we have a more even spread.

We’ve had the “better top end” type of team before. Didn’t get us a flag.
I’m going champion team ( with a Champion King…or two) this time around.

Lewis Young (Dogs) is waiting to see any interest before recommitted to the Dogs on a two year deal. I don't mind him as a cheap as chips KPD, has the height (202cm) and athleticism and age to work with our group, even just as a speculative player moving forward. Also versatile.

If we’re drafting 3-4 midfielders in this draft plus have Steele, Crouch, Jones, Gresham, Clark, Hannebery*, Higgins, Byrnes to roll through the guts, I’d be more than content to wave Seb Ross & his moon ball kicks bye bye 👍🏼

And you forgot Bytelompelli

Our list and midfield is no where good enough to be moving on players like Ross - consistent, versatile senior midfielders who go out and do what the coaches want every week.

If we want to play finals next year, we need our list to bat at least 30 deep of competent AFL players. Ross provides that.

And yet no clubs are rushing out to sign Seb.

Agree. Let’s move on. It was 7 years.

We need to get past it ... bottom line, without injuries McCartin would probably have been a very good forward for us - he was showing a lot of strong signs when it all went to crap with the head knocks.

Maybe not Petracca good, but still not a dreadful pick.

The injury Gods were cruel.

That said, if we pick Petracca, he probably does 5 ACLs and is done with 20 games to his credit.

No one is saying Ross is an A-grader or a star, but he is quite a few levels up from what would be considered a 'spud'.

I think they're winding you up Brutus.

Wouldn’t get a game for any of the teams that finished in the top 5. Would push him out if we could jag a top 40 compo pick. Provides points for NGA players & forces the coaches hand to play somebody else. Yes, some risk the somebody else isn’t as good as Ross but we need to take some sort of risk to move up the ladder. No point finishing between 6-12 every year.

Cost?
Future 3rd?

People bagging English need to realise that he is only 22 and is still looks like a bean pole. What was Gawn doing at the age of 22? Some ruckman take a while to grow into their body and get that aggression.

He has talent, can mark, can kick and moves well around the ground. His hit outs aren't great because he still needs to grow into his body.

Is a year younger than Marshall and his stats aren't too dissimilar to his.

I believe so. Put of contract and not sure the Dogs would really get in the way of him. Drafted as a forward and trialled mainly in defense at the Dogs. Actually gets a LOT of spoils playing defense, but got shifted around a lot at his time at the Dogs. I would sell him the partnership with Howard and Wilkie and leave him to do the hard work, the only problem may be that he reads similarly to Howard (athletic tall defenders as opposed to strong, reliable, gorilla FB).

This year should be a reality check for the coach, list manager & footy department. Does the club give a few blokes an extra chance to prove themselves or does the club move on some favourite sons? I hope we are ruthless & there’s a few shocks during the trade period. We need to accept we are nowhere near top 4/premiership contender & move on a few blokes to try & find some gold in the draft. I would have no problem if the club moved on Coffield, Battle, Long (a fav of mine), Ross, Dunstan (already gone) & Lonie. Accumulate a few 20-50 picks & let the Banker get to work. Need to cut deep. No use having a list of 40 C graders. Time to take some risks.

Not too many out there that you need a monster KPD for.
Athletic is probably more useful.
Would also solve our backup ruck issue which is handy
