Let’s stick with a basic rule for this thread, that it’s for draft watch and discussion only.

It’s not for trade hypotheticals, who you think needs to be delisted or traded, how many games you think we will win, some other team will win, how many picks you want in the 1st round or discussion of current HFC players.

It’s about youngsters who are eligible for the draft in 2021.

Key dates to look out for:
  • NAB AFL Draft Combine: TBC
  • NAB AFL Draft: Wednesday November 24 - Thursday November 25
  • NAB AFL Pre-season and Rookie Drafts: Friday November 26

Seems to be a good kick, plus he's a solid unit that can tear across the field. There's a bit to work with.
Yeah I liked the Chesser highlights. Said person who held the athlete/footballer view believes that during Covid there have been even more kids than normal slip under the radar and that more than ever kids have been selected on reputation/name more than output and that this will be in effect for the next couple of drafts.

I kind of get where you’re coming from but this is a Midfielder’s draft and we need midfielders so if we end up taking a back flanker because we think he might be able to play midfield I’d have to wonder just what we’re thinking taking him, with so many flankers on the list that we’re already pondering this very same question with.

Agreed 100%. Just played around with some different scenarios because it's quite enjoyable fitting different player types into our current list and seeing who can be shuffled around.

If anyone has time to listen to this, please summarise what's said about us.

We are seen to be liking Ward, Andrew, Hobbs with Johnson also someone we have interest in.

Who is it?

Arthur Jones. That clip is the first I'd seen him. Serious toe

Found some more info.

He is related to the krakouer bros.
Ran 6:30 for 2km
8.189 for agility

He only got a late combine invite and is considered a bolter. Think he was playing school footy

You look at some of the midfielders we had during the three-peat - Lewis, Shiels, Burgoyne, Hodge etc. They were all capable of playing in multiple positions.

I’m picking Ward over Hobbs. I feel like he would be able to bring more to the table.
Hobbs is more flexible than Ward. If we are picking Ward over Hobbs it's because he is a better mid, which I believe he is. Honestly, you could split the two down the middle for me at this point. Both accumulate well, both can be serviceable up forward, both have parts of their game that stand out and both are top blokes by all accounts.

I'm planning on doing a bit of an in-depth analysis on Ward vs Hobbs (and others) for this weekend. Not sure the rules to linking to outside sites on the board, might just make it a thread/post itself.

İf the Draft hand stays as it is , then we won't be messing around, Ward/Hobbs still available then we pull the trigger. İf we did have a second top 10 pick then one of Mac or Erasmus. For some reason I still think we will try to get another pick in the first round somehow but won't if the deal doesn't suit us

A few things. Sounds like the Johnson train is legit. Whoever suggested him a few weeks ago, kudos. I have felt that Freo would be a threat for Johnson and could easily be their preferred option over Erasmus who just hasn't had as much exposed form or athletic testing. Johnson has a more AFL type skillset imo.

I know everyone is thinking that certain names will go in the 20s but I am super confident we will see a repeat of last year, where names like Bowey, Holmes, our own Seamus Mitchell, seemingly came from the clouds into the top 30. Don't be shocked when the popular name goes in the 50s and players like

Hough and A. Jones go far higher based on traits and potential upside.

Would love Johnson at our first, but hopefully, we can get some mail about Freo's plans and perhaps do a pick slide and still grab him.

Where are you hearing this? Most I know have him a top 5 lock.
My own circular reasoning. I'll edit my original post and add 'imo' for clarity. It came across as probably too definitive. Probably goes pick 3 now :tearsofjoy:...
If we pass, I don't see any other club in the top 10 touching him except the tigers. If Hobbs gets through as well, they surely go for him.

Twomey today put Sinn back in the mix for top 5 and Johnson in our mix, means some players would have to slide out.

Is there anyone who ended up sliding last year that ended up playing really well this year? I've lost track!
