I'm no expert on India's foreign policy, but I doubt they view the UK in that good a light. They too basically washed their hands of India after independence and backed Pakistan.

That's understating it. From what I see, Pakistan is just a client state of China. Can't think of a single time they've gone against Chinese interests. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor looks like a method to make Pakistan economically dependent on China, while also giving the Chinese navy multiple ports in the Indian Ocean.

I feel like the Quad is really an insurance policy for India, due to Russia moving closer to China, and hence Pakistan.

The relationship between the UK and India echoes that of the US and Pakistan. There's quite a bit of distrust there, but when push comes to shove the UK are more than happy to funnel weapons to India when they need to fight Pakistan.

The Indians used the Folland Gnat to particularly lethal effect in the 1965 and 1971 wars.

The Quad kind of reflects India's somewhat contradictory foreign policy in this regard.

Ideally, yes, but when you're staring an invasion by a much not powerful nation in the face, you can't really afford to be picky.

The Azov Batallion was integrated years ago though, not just yesterday.

If it wasn’t on before - it is now

You're really running with this Bruce/Tony faux tough guy bravado now?
Agree. Hands up everyone on here who has been charged with assaulting/threatening a woman.

Appears Tony doesn’t have that many kindred souls after all.

[At Uni we had never met anyone that obnoxious, and certainly haven’t since. He was always bullying and intimidating girls (who should have been home in the kitchen) and gays (who were an abomination).

When he was defeated by a petite girl in the 77 SRC election, everyone pissed themselves. His response was quick - cornering her, he ‘put his face in her face, and punched the wall (within inches) on either side of her head.’ He found that to be immensely satisfying.

For the rest of the year he referred to her as ‘chairTHING’ rather than the favoured ‘chair’ or ‘chairperson’.]

Don’t encourage him.

sh*t humour is sh*t humour, whether one believes in the stereotypes (Collingwood supporters having no teeth) or not. We should be better than that. It is inappropriate and offensive.

You're right, but my overall point was not to make fun of regionals, but just to point out that the cultural differences.

The good people of Maranoa, Kennedy and Cook were nice to my mother (an immigrant from Malaysia), and so I have nothing bad to say about them as people.

I do have plenty of bad things to say about Dawson because they were altogether less inviting, but that's a different story.

Saw this on FB

Copied...An analogy of what's going on in the Ukraine and why

The Ukraine & Russia crisis In simple terms for those that have no idea what is going on.

-Ukraine used to be in an abusive relationship with Russia, feeding him, letting him use her car & giving him whatever he asked for until she built up the confidence to call it quits back in 1991

-Since then Ukraine has been working on herself, becoming a strong independent woman with help from friends like France, America, Poland etc. offering her support, loaning her money, & helping her find her way.

-Ukraine has been enjoying being single for 30 years & looking forward to continuing to grow & create new friendships.

-Now Russia being the toxic Ex that it is wants her back, and doesn’t want her meeting new people or creating any new relationships.

-A couple of weeks ago Russia started sitting in the front of Ukraine’s house & when her friends ask him what was he doing there, he said “Oh nothing, just getting a little bit of exercise in, that’s all.”

-After her friends told her that Russia was potentially getting ready to do something bad to her, he said “They’re lying, they just want you to be scared of me & that’s not what it is”

-Yesterday Russia broke into Ukraine’s house, beating her up & “taking advantage” of her while on Livestream & daring any of her friends to do something about it
💔😔💔😔💔😔

If you become a Rhodes Scholar despite clearly not being particularly intellectual, then you're on a pretty good wicket.
What a waste of a space though, some actual person who deserved it got dudded because little tory boy needed a lift up.

And yet Britain sent their navy to India in 1971 (along with the US) and would have intervened on the Pakistani side had the Soviet navy not been there to act as a deterrent.

Too true. About 1% of applicants are successful. That is amongst the ones that satisfied the exacting criteria of outstanding; intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to community service.

He had done no community work whatsoever at school and only played one sport, rugby. Despite being the oldest and biggest he couldn’t even get a spot on the bench. He was ****house. He lacked the character and heart to persist, get fit and earn a spot in the team. Spent the year in the pub, bad mouthing the Brother who coached.

How Abbott qualified on character grounds and as an ‘outstanding young leader - demonstrated by mastery in areas such as sports, music, and artistic pursuits’, has everyone mystified other than the priest that nominated him.

It seems like Britain was playing a double game, much like what Pakistan does with the US.

He pretty much epitomises the Just World Fallacy - as does ScoMo, FWIW.

I wish I was that good at failing upwards.

If he could act, tones could have been a support actor in ‘the vikings’

Worth pointing out Dyson Heydon who was on the panel that awarded it was impressed by him.

Scumo now $2.85 was. $3.35 just 5 days ago

It was $2.95 on Thursday just as the invasion started.

My guess is the markets haven’t seen ScoMo make any “mistakes” with the crisis yet, but are holding off til the next polls taken after Thursday’s attack to gauge public reaction.

No doubt if the polls due over the next two weeks show a swing toward the Coalition (my guess is around 52/53 TPP to the ALP, down from 55/56 now) then the odds drastically shorten and Morrison calls a snap election.

Opposite of █████, encourages early postal voting while his “war popularity” is still peaking, then targets Labor marginal seats in NSW and Queensland to offset expected losses elsewhere.

Don’t forget if Labor only get a limited swing to them of less than 3% the Coalition will still hold 73 House seats, and can maintain government with Katter, Steggall and Haines or Sharkie.

Labor needs a bigger swing to them, and need to start going back on the offensive against Morrison. Otherwise it’ll be two “unloseable” elections lost in a row, and the ALP will be the biggest joke out there.

I think you don't understand how gambling organisations work. Reduced odds don't indicate that there is more chance for the LNP. This is simply a method of getting gamblers to get on the outsider which is exactly what they want. Don't confuse mathematical probability with gambling.

It is getting easier and easier to see LNP plants these days.

I think he's just a bit paranoid TBH.

I don't blame him because I can see how ScoMo could retain power (Albo not swinging enough seats despite a positive 2PP) but I can't really see Ukraine having anything to do with it.
