The police gave him a good going over ,30 hours.

'Murder was a 'deliberate act': Police Chief
Victoria Police Commissioner Shane Patton told media this afternoon that detectives questioned the man for more than 30 hours after he was taken into custody yesterday. He said police believed the murder was "a deliberate act" and "not a hit and run".'

I’m not sure what you mean. I didn’t mention accomplice. If he had to call in somewhere he could have done this without someone knowing.
Called someone into that bush area where Samantha went missing, asking them to bring tools, which they did..and then turned around & left?

Possibly.

But surely they would have been more than suspicious when the news broke about Samantha going missing in that area.

And they remained quiet. At least for a while anyway.

Possibly. Seems unlikely though.

Or are you suggesting he left the site of Samantha's murder to collect tools & then returned? Or took Samantha's body with him?

Again, all possible, I guess. They'd have a fair bit of CCTV footage of him then you'd think.

The posts on this thread gives some hope that people wont let the nepo kids get away with crimes anymore and protected because they’re young. What these afl players offspring get away with is disgraceful.

Supposedly Patrick had prior charges and should have been reported to the media. Some of the nepo kids with offences get drafted and it’s not on.

One nepo Player in particular who had prior charges when he was a minor was not named and shamed and allegedly now successfully got into the afl. Their past with sa is overlooked because he was a kid at the time.

Makes me wonder if Patrick wasn’t protected as a minor for his crime would this have happened.

Hi believe a mineshaft is a possibility but if he has taken her somewhere he might need something.
A mineshaft seems the most obvious location. There are about 2000 mineshafts mapped in local forest areas. And I imagine many more which are unmapped. Most of the mapped ones have been 'secured' by grates or boards, but these 'lids' can often be fairly easily removed (and replaced) by a determined person. Some are signposted, but authorities didn't want to signpost all of them as that might just draw extra attention to tourists who would then fall in. So, it's quite likely a local would be aware of one or more open or easily opened shafts around the area. However, sniffer dogs don't seem to have had any success in the search areas. So if a mineshaft was used, it might be in a more distant part of the forest, or another area altogether. The gold rush was BIG, and there are lots of shafts and other places to hide a body in the region.

Obvious question would be, why hasn't the press got hold of it?

Media are bound to restrictions and conditions on what they can do in terms of releasing the information once they’ve acquired it. They have to apply to the court to be present, to search the register, to take extracts, and a judicial officer stipulates what they can and can’t do in terms of publishing or disclosing. So basically, because at this point they likely cant, also, because the cases e.g. SOCIT are not finalised. Any orders, sentencing remarks, anything with any detail at all etc on the register cannot be accessed until a case is concluded. So until the SOCIT and other cases are finalised no details can be obtained - by media or persons alike

Lawyer has said 6/3 was POS first time in police custody.

If all of those SOCIT entries relate to him surely that could not be the case.
With the post above listing the matters involving his name, you’d have to think the ones centred in Ballarat are likely him (they appear for both the version with no middle name and with the middle name).

Most are diversion etc so probably relatively minor and might have multiple entries for the same incident but either way he’s had a fair bit of contact with the justice system for a 22 year old.

Who knows with the ones in Melbourne and Bendigo.

'After arrest, the police will take you into custody. This means the police officer will take you to a police station, custody centre or the police cells at court. You may have to travel in a police vehicle to get there. The police officer may handcuff you.'

I think police custody refers to being arrested only.

Being held in custody in Victoria, Australia, typically refers to the legal detention of a person by law enforcement. It involves restricting the individual's freedom of movement, often in a police station or other authorized facility, while they are under investigation or awaiting court proceedings.

So, this technically, could be POS first time held/detained.

Yes that's what I said above

I see this court case issue with cross-referencing information on the Patrick Stephenson is heating up again. I admit, it can be confusing but will do my best to explain:

Firstly, EFAS only lists court entries for the current day and future listings. Historic court entries can only be found on a paid court register database (either in courthouse or through 3rd party online).

The register shows these past entries under Patrick Stephenson (without the middle name) from oldest to most recent:

• Application August 2018, Bendigo
• Diversion Oct 2019 Melbourne (YarraCIU)
• Diversion Oct 2020 Melbourne (YarraCIU)
• Mention April 2022 Ballarat
• Contest Mention May 2022 Ballarat
• Mention Sept 2023 Melbourne (SOCIT Westgate)
• Contest Mention Nov 2023, Melbourne (SOCIT Westgate)
• Application Dec 2023 Melbourne (SOCIT Westgate)
• BOND Jan 11th 2024 Ballarat
• Application 18th Jan 21 2024, Melbourne (SOCIT Westgate)
• Application February 2nd 2024 Melbourne (SOCIT Westgate)
• Mention February 12th 2024 Bendigo
• Application February 13th 2024 Melbourne (SOCIT Westgate)
• Application February 20th 2024 Melbourne (SOCIT Westgate)
• Application February 29th 2024 Melbourne (SOCIT Westgate)

Then for the Patrick Orren Stephenson (with middle name) there’s these historical entries from oldest to newest:

• Diversion Sept 2021 Ballarat (Buninyong Police)
• Diversion Oct 2021 Ballarat (Buninyong Police)
• Diversion Dec 2021 Ballarat (Buninyong Police)
• Application March 5th 2024 Melbourne (Missing Persons Squad)

Future court dates: Without middle name:-

Application - 15 Mar 2024 - Melb Magistrates’ (Online) - initiated by SOCIT-
Hearing - 6 May 2024 - Melb Magistrates’ - initiated by SOCIT

Without middle name:

Comittal Mention - 8 Aug 2024 - Ballarat (via AV LINK) - initiated by Missing Persons Squad

It’s very normal to have different informants/applicants as different branches handle different types of case (and can also depend where the person reporting resides or where an alleged offender occurred) and similarly usual to have different representation depending on what that lawyer specialises in, etc. Tamaninka is a local Ballarat lawyer the family may have just utilised last minute given the sudden change in circumstances. He’s currently not published as being lined up to represent at the Hearing for murder in August.

In reference to the names. This is very, very common for middle names to be added/not added by court clerks during data entry.
Given Patrick Orren Stephenson is reported as 22 years old you would think that 2018 and 2019 would be another person?

Mods want this put to bed for now, but I will just add

Diversions are most often issued to people under the age of 21.

Note the Diversions stop the year he turned 21 yrs. They only continue if they’re being followed, and, only until the person reaches age. Anything over 21 shifts to standard court listings after that if the Diversion hasn’t been successful or if they commit additional/ongoing offences.

not allowed to say on here as mods remove the post as they won’t allow a name and shame as he was a minor at the time and they delete accounts about anyone talking about it. But here’s the thread.

It's not POS because it refers to son of an AFL great.
