Prediction Harry Sheezel - Can he be the GOAT?

Sheezel won't even win 1 brownlow or 3 premiership/Norm Smith medals.. so Dustys status as the GOAT of all GOATS is secure

Ummm he was rising star plus club bf...in first year. The last person who did something like this as buckley, but he was 2nd on the club's list. Michael Jordan was the other from a different sport...

But you know, no pressure ! 🤣

Needs to get himself out of the backline and seagulling cheap disposals.

Great first year but he needs to now move up the ground/midfield where can have a greater impact on the game.

Weekends game, 32 disposals. 13 were in the defensive 50 arc and only 4 disposals in the forward half of the ground according to the Telstra Tracker. This also doesn’t take into account his 5 kickouts, so 18 disposals in the defensive arc.

Ontop of that, only 4 inside 50s and 1 clearance.

That’s not enough.

Great for fantasy but hopefully we see his game develop past that this year.

he's exactly what we need for defense, flags are won from good defensive transitioning to attack.

Except as the stats prove, he’s not transitioning it into attack at the moment.

That’s why he needs to move up the ground.

It’s all well and good getting 18/32 disposals in your defensive 50 but he was only involved in 1 score involvement and 4 entries inside 50.

That’s not enough. No doubting he’s a dam good player but he can’t just scoot around defensive 50 racking up the pill all year.

Needs to be playing midfield and using his skills in the forward half of the ground.

Not yet, young players need to learn the craft first and hb seems to be the easiest place to learn as those positions rarely gets opp's taggers. Him, mccercher are our best disposal players off hb in our history

One of his best games of career is also one of the very few he played almost exclusively in the center square (34% CBA) - Against Sydney last year, 26 disposals 8 score involvements, 5 tackles and 2.2.

Remembering this is a guy that broke goal kicking and assist records in underage football in Melbourne, be careful what you wish for….

Suggesting one of the best forwards to come through the draft in the last decade might not be capable of being damaging forward of center is certainly an interesting take.

And this is why I think he should be pushing more up the ground. He has the talent, he’s had a year to develop and learn the speed of AFL but if I was a North supporter, I’d want to see him up the ground and getting CBAs.

Doesn’t have to be a pure mid but 30% this year, becomes 50% next year and he becomes a game changer.

I’m not suggesting he can’t be damaging forward of centre, but he’s not being played there currently. I’m saying the role he’s playing and played on the weekend where essentially every disposal in the back half, is not making the best use of him. Again, 4 disposals in the forward half and only 1 score involvement is not someone who is damaging forward.

I’m sure you would rather see him get his 26 disposals and 2 goals than 30+, with virtually no impact on the score or forward half of the ground as he did against the Giants.

There are others who can do that, namely zurhaar, duursma and braydon george who also plays a similar role. We don't have nearly as many such types in defense, hence why i think sheezal will eventually end up being a backline general. Remember the halfback is like the point guard in bbal.

Sheezel is much better than Zurhaar and has a much higher ceiling. George hasn’t even played and Duursma is in his development year as Sheezel had last year.

You put your best players in the middle and attacking the forward lines. You don’t put GAJ, Pendlebury etc in the back pocket racking up 2/3rds of their disposals across the back third of the ground and not impacting the score.

If he stays down back IMO his talents are being seriously under utilised. Could be a seriously damaging player in the forward half, something North are lacking out of the middle.

Of course he can be.

The real question is can we find 4 Essendon fans that can compile over 1000 furious posts disputing the idea (as far as I can tell they're the only ones who have a passing sense of schadenfreude with North Melbourne)?

Matthews was a great, but GOAT ? God no

Player of the 20th century. Offically:

Matthews was named "Player of the Century" and inducted as an inaugural official Legend of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, the highest individual honour that can be bestowed upon a football personality. He was also named in both the AFL and Hawthorn teams of the century, in the forward pocket for the AFL and as rover for Hawthorn. In 2002, the AFLPA MVP award, of which Matthews was the inaugural recipient, was renamed the Leigh Matthews Trophy.

It's all about king Dusty Martin

It's a testament to Dusty that his career can be talked about as being at or near the same level as Lethal's.

You're allegedly a Hawks supporter. Did you see Matthews play? 4 x flags, 6 x leading goalkicker, a Coleman (at 5'10"), 8 x BnFs. He kicked over 900 goals as a short stocky Half forward.

Hopefully he develops to the stage where he can get 3 Brownlow votes a game for 13 disposals and 5 turnovers like a little Judas can
