Sure, which is why JF realised immediately the impact of what he'd said, and how contrite he was. Still, in a charged situation, coming from a generation who has seen attitudes change rather than be born into the new way, one might see how it could have slipped out.Not necessarily, but it's getting much, much harder to use those words now in society without realising that they are now taboo, and making the connection as to why.
Of course some parts of society change faster than others, but Gen Z are vastly less tolerant of people using "f*g" and "r****d" as insults than my Millennial generation was.
It's getting to the point now where ignorance is a LOT harder to claim, and at some point you are saying those words because you genuinely either have no respect for the reasons they are deemed taboo, or you actively want to make a contrarian statement about why they are taboo.
A culture war will never be won by screaming that the other side is stupid or evil or whatever. In fact, making it a war will condemn you in the first place.
