See, the difference is that the rule was in place before Daicos was born. It was an existing rule that everyone knew. So, not theft.

The F/S rule was made specifically to get Barrassi to Melbourne, when he was zoned (the old suburban zones) to us. A new rule to alter an existing state of affairs.

He was also zoned to Carlton and would have gone there.

But the rule was made for everyone hence Daicos was drafted under that rule.

The rule was not made for Barrassi and then taken away and no one else can use it. Rules start somewhere and that’s where it started for everyone. It’s the same rule getting every son to play at their Dads club.

Barrassi grew up around the Melbourne football club and was Melbourne person from the start, trained and developed by Melbourne, had nothing to do with Collingwood or Carlton other than where his mum lived. Just like the Daicos boys grew up around Collingwood even though Nick was a Carlton Kid.
