Geez, they smashed us in clearances by 28 but we gave a lot of free kicks in a myriad of different ways away at stoppages. It wasn't so much in the 6-6-6 set ups because there were hardly any goals in the first half.
Plenty of holding frees. Ironic considering they were the ones stuck to us like Velcro the whole time

-28 clearances.

Walking and jogging efforts from Switta, Bolton, MJ and Narc.

Just a continuation of the last 3 quarters from last week against adelaide. We've kicked barely 11 goals in nearly 7 quarters of football in the last two weeks.

Justin seemed unperturbed by the fade out against Adelaide because we won, i think. That seems odd to me. Its not like it has never happened before.

NOD is my favourite player , out of contract at the end of the year

Normally I’d be desperate for us to re-sign him but i hate this club so much right now I’m kinda hoping he ****s off to a proper footy club and I can enjoy watching him like some other old faves like Shooter and Lord Meek

If JL had any dignity, he’d have immediately resigned during that presser. The next best time would be tomorrow.

**** off and show some self respect. Or at least some respect for the players whose careers you are destroying.

What a ****ing fraud.

Probably one of the worst games I have watched. Made worse by the fact that I think we all knew Ross would get his side to up the pressure and close down our run. It was expected, but it seems no plans were made on how to counter that.
We are just as likely to come out next week and play well against Collingwood. I look at our wins this year and none of them really are inspiring, just moments where we were allowed to play how we want to play for periods which gave us the win.
I think the loses show us more of where we are, rather than the wins. Sure we will win a few more games this year, but we will capitulate in other games.
I dont think in all my years of been a Freo supporter and member, I have ever seen us this inconsistent and so easily found out.
I am not one to come here and bag the coach but my patience is wearing pretty thin.

Like I said - a goaless last quarter last week was a telltale sign of what was to come.

If I was Jlo - I would be tearing strips off them and oh boy - Monday... get ready boys! We're going to work!
I genuinely don’t know how you get back up from that as a coach who has had question marks hanging over him for a few years .

Like how do you even look the players in the eye Monday morning?
And for the record this is both ways , the players themselves should be ashamed

I’m not buying the “ they played like that to get him sacked “ theory, they played very well ( for half a game ) last week in a memorable and proud commemoration game .

No this is more of a bath water , lack of resilience, deer in the headlights thing , where once things start going pear shaped they go to f*n water .

Mental toughness needs to be beaten into these young players and that’s going to take time , I don’t even know if most of them could handle a tough coach .

i’ve been super optimistic on this rebuild throughout JLOs tenure, the list looked the goods, had showed (from time to time) the ability to go with the best teams, the players had all said the right things, lead by a few driven young players.

but this performance has just completely obliterated any hope i had of this team putting anything of note together. this game just seemed to show the levels to the desire, the want, the fire in players within the league. and we are so so far behind just about any other respectable team. the saints are by no means a basket case, but it’s not as if they’re a premiership fancy. to get shown up that comprehensively without even a whimper is telling.

evidently the preparation we’ve had for this season has been a complete and utter failure in every sense. we’ve put together maybe what 4 or 5 good quarters of football? and have otherwise shown just how easily we can be pushed aside when the going gets tough.

we neither have the ability to pressure other teams and take away their game nor handle any semblance of high level pressure and play our way. plan b? our structures ahead of the ball seem to resort to long down the line every time. 3 quarters of that not working and getting beat at the drop of the ball by desperate sainters and we either are unable to, or the coach simply didn’t tell them to, switch to a short incisive kicking plan to beat the press and run the saints ragged.

we have that many one way, weak players that are not able to stand up when the footy gets hot, that if our top liners have an off day, we have no
hope. we desperately need some tough, demanding players. i know we’ve taken the piss out of the eagles for wasting some picks on baker and graham but **** me we are dying out for that sort of player. i’d imagine they’d be just as surprised at how poor and easy our training standards are as they are with the eagles.

this game just demonstrates to me that the players are not really being highly demanded of by the coaching staff, or of each other. the leaders can talk all the talk they want, but if you dish this sort of shit out, you’re name gets sullied, you’re going to be seen as a weak willed push over. i really hope that they come out themselves (talking specifically of brayshaw, serong and darcy here) and front up to some pressure from the media.

these players very clearly need a coach that is more demanding than JLo, guys like cox ryan sharp swifts freddy amiss mj are skating by on average performances when they feel like it. we need to be unrelenting and demanding full effort every ****ing week every quarter otherwise what the **** are we doing here

Ras won't get another chance under JL, his papers have been stamped.
I agree his papers seem stamped, but he basically has to play this week given Youngs out for a stretch.

We got torched by Macrae, and outworked by Steele (cant run), Garcia (19), Boxshall (first game).

Excuse an outsiders comments.
That performance was hard to watch even for a non Freo follower. Unfortunately the Dockers appear to have a soft underbelly, lots of talent but no players that hold the line when you’re under pressure. Freo need to introduce hard nosed types that stand up and refuse to capitulate. Recruit players like Powell-Pepper from Port and a couple of proven hard arse types. Good luck going forward, I was really expecting Freo to be contenders and had you pencilled in for top 4 but now realise it’s not likely.

Kicking down the line happens because after they take the mark they take too much time thinking about the next play that all the options close up and that becomes the only somewhat best option
.
Problem is even when kicking it high or down the line to a contest it seems out players get out marked or more problematic is when it hits the ground it's the oppo that seems to be able swoop onto it
