We are the only team that needs to play at 120% manic pressure to win a game and every man and his dog knows that's not possible every week and when it drops off you have what we got yesterday , as you said you cant even start to compare us to the dogs and they have some big names missing too but they have a plan , we don't.

People on here bang on about the Fixture- Draw well our selection is in the same boat at times= Bull sh1t
That's not true. Pretty much every team around us needs to do the same thing.

We are a bottom 4 side. We look like Richmond in quality.

Probably similar to Essendon too. They'll play okay every now and then to tempt you back in though. We just aren't ever going to get it together are we.
We can’t take our lumps, the club and supporters are obsessed with individuals over team. We need to keep building and stop looking for relevance through trying to land a big name. Who was it last year Merrett ? Then Callaghan and now TDK, I’m sure there have been plenty of others like LDU as well. North did this for years and just looked like clowns imo.

Keep heading to the draft, keep trade targets out of the press, when we’ve actually landed someone there will be plenty of time to talk it up then.

This team is closer to bottom 4 than top 8 imo, we have some young talent but not enough to become a regular top 8 team. I like Ross Lyon and agree than several of our youngsters will play midfield long term but none of them are or will be imo the AA mid we need.

The list is short 2 top tier mids, a key defender and key forward short at a bare minimum.

Ik this goes against most of the whining. But checks notes

We won
Clearances and contested ball. Now fine maybe we evened up clearances after game was done but still. It’s fairly obvious the game was won from our turnovers as Ross spoke about. NOT our midfield.

The game was lost here.

Clangers
The last so many weeks though it seems like we have got in a pattern of playing panic football. We have zero composure. Even guys like Sincs are starting to dump kick out in hope. It seems we start off trying to go too fast and then cannot change gears. When were under pressure we dont have a sweeper or loose player to hit up to take the pressure off and change the angles up. That's the main reason I think we turn it over so much and cant get any flow. Missing basic passes doesn't help either

Or......... We lost to a team that hasn't won a game all year because we were absolutely shithouse and people have had a gut full of us being absolutely shithouse
And a fortnight ago we absolutely obliterated a team who's currently 9th (only missing the 8 on percentage).

It was one of the most dominant wins anyone has recorded against anyone this season.

Many statistical records were broken or challenged- contested possession dominance, clearance dominance, opposition inside 50 count, etc.

When you're fielding a young team with more kids than anyone else, guess what's gonna happen? You'll get inconsistent performance. That's a hallmark of youth and inexperience.

My point was- play the long game. Look at the big picture.

We're 4-6. Right on track for the 9 to 11 wins I expected.

And still ahead of most pundits who had us bottom 4....

Hundred per cent. Also the lack of getting the ball going quick and having options to kick too.

Just pathetic. The slow movement is killing us. You can see even when Trav started trying to push the pace you could see the difference.

Just! I think a lot of those pundits are starting to feel pretty smug this week.

We're not the first young team to completely lose their brand of footy when playing interstate. When the clubs from the west or GC played at Marvel it was often a bit like yesterday. I think yesterday might have been a world record for fumbles from non-first-year players, though.

Hill copped a lot of flack, but I thought his effort and energy was great. He made a huge amount of dashes to intercept, smother and tackle. Unfortunately his timing was way, way out and he failed to make pretty much all of them.

We looked tiny and weak out there without Dougal and Stocker, and had midfielders from a team with no wins just laughing at us. Unfortunately we won't see them until next year, now to return the favour at home.

But in some ways, I'm glad they got the win. Only Essendon and maybe Carlton supporters really deserve a winless season. And if yesterday didn't highlight our need to get top 5 draft talent in, nothing will.

Called the club this morning and told the membership team I don't want to be contacted next year regarding membership. I said the club is not getting another cent of my money until they can show they've got their shit together. I've had enough of the same shit year after year of watching a team with no skills and no composure. Sick of the excuses.

I have very little faith that Henry or Caminiti are ever going to be more than depth and I'm not seeing it with Windhager or Wilson this year either if I'm being honest.

Going into 2017 I was extremely bullish about a group of blokes under 24, which included the following players we all rated as future talent: Battle, Phillips, Gresham, Long, Goddard, Lonie, McKenzie, McCartin, Steele, Marshall, Acres, Billings, Sinclair, Dunstan, Membrey, Webster, Longer, Ross, Newnes and Bruce.

Eight are still in the league. Four playing for us.

I think I'm ready to start being realistic about our young talent until they start to rack up coaches votes, AA40 nominations and wins - external confirmation that we are actually developing.
I think Caminiti will make it as a defender and Loc did some good things-we have to remember their time in the system-remember Ross said Sicily got 2 games in his 4th year

Correct Air Winmar nailed it -paddock footy

There are 9 bad teams at the moment: West Coast, North, Richmond; then Port, Melbourne, Sydney, Carlton, Essendon, Saints. You'd expect a few in the second group to elevate out of it, probably not us. Leaves us bottom 6 ish.

Which to be fair is exactly what most of us thought at the start of the season. No-one was expecting finals this year, especially after the Adelaide loss. Then we beat Geelong and won two more in a row and dared to dream. Since then our draw has been tough, injuries haven't been kind, we're back at our level.

Probably need the supporter base to harden up a bit. Unless you think 2025 Jack Steele, Brad Hill, Zak Jones are the core of a finals-quality midfield, none of us should really be surprised that we're pumping games into kids and having very variable performances.

I agree it's not fun but we are where we are.
Nah, this is ridiculous.

Weve been 10 years in the wilderness, the promise was a little bottom out then back up to be competitive.

If were as shit as West Coast we shouldnt even be considering 1.7m for an FA.

Supporters knew the plan, its been discussed to death, the loss yesterday has no part of that plan.

If the supporter base was any harder it would be fossilised.

It is rightly out of patience
Saints supporters are used to losing, were not used to losing games that embarass us when were supposed to be improving.

Were uniquely resilient.
Haha so what's the plan then? Fire the coach? Sell off a bunch of players? How does any of that get us closer?
Thats not really the point, we can agree to stay the course whilst still being pissed off weve just made a laughing stock of ourselves.

Were also allowed to question what the **** were doing whilst still supporting the club.
