Coach Carlton under Voss

"After 30 years you'd reckon the emotional damage we inflicted way back when would have worn off"

You liked this post, then disputed a poster who said it was pity more than emotional trauma. That poster has no reason to care about Jack Newnes.

I provided an explanation on why Carlton threads are dominating recently. Does my explanation fit better or worse than "emotional trauma from 30 years ago?".
When you see that same people trolling in every thread "pity" is incredibly hard to believe which is why I disputed it. Most non-Carlton fans don't like Carlton and so when they are playing poorly it's going to get those fans up and about. And that dislike for Carlton has been bred from generations of Carlton being a successful club so I think Walshy's comment is right. There's nothing wrong with it either but let's not pretend there is some unbiased coalition of AFL fans in here and all the other threads.

And I only brought up the Jack Newnes thing to dispute your "0% claim" which I don't agree with.

Off the top of my head, no, can you? Not sure why you think I need to know who his replacement should be simply for pointing out that he's a terrible coach.
That's the point though. Who else would you bring in hence keep him. I don't blame Voss and you did get to two finals under him shoukd have been 3. I think ATM it's the players not the coach. Better than Teague and Bolton that's for sure.

"Pity" though wasn't included in my explanation, which covered reaction baiting and trolling. Most of the posts I see in this thread are discussing things normally, then if you or Walsh come in with a hard defence a bit of teasing naturally occurs. Stock standard stuff.

The "oh this is because you're traumatised" thing is actually pretty embarrassing and means the well has run dry on being able to refute anything.

People can not get along with Carlton supporters but also say accurate, critical things about their club when they are serving up horrendous performances. Nobody is forcing you to read and respond. A BigFooty vacation could even freshen you up for when things are running more smoothly with Carlton.

I don't know why you're bringing up past failed coaches to make some sort of point? Bring in someone new from outside the club. Somone with fresh ideas not tied to outdated game styles.
Clearly I'm saying Voss did better than the previous guys so some credit shoukd be given. You yourself don't know who to bring in. There's a big problem right there. If it's just Voss and not the players surely they'd have enough class to adjust or work their magic. For whatever reason this season it's not working. It's bigger than Voss.

I never said "pity" was in your explanation. I replied to another poster who brought it up. And please don't lie and say trolling only happens when one of two posters are in the thread. That's way off and you know it.

And no where have I had an issue about what's being posted unless people come out with the "you're wrong if you disagree with me" rubbish that's been rolled out multiple times now across these threads.

So my explanation was a good one then. Much better than "when will people's emotional trauma around Carlton wear off?! ".

I think you and Walshy are the last ones really offering much in the way of resistance. Everyone else has jumped off board. If Carlton turn things around you can bump the threads and the cycle will spin in reverse. Welcome to BigFooty.

With the list Voss has had at his disposal (up until this year at least) he should have done a lot better. Literally had Cripps in his absolute prime with 2 Coleman medalists in his forward line. No point discussing with you, because you can't see the giant flaws in his game plan. Unfortunately for Carlton, neither can Vossy who still believes that Carlton's Contested style is a winning formula.
You're being forced to play contested.

All you need to do is revisit the Pies/Blues thread and check out SOTY's 20 to 1 countdown of the funniest and most ridiculous comments made by Carlton supporters over the off season to understand why Pies supporters are revelling in Carlton's mediocrity.

Most Pies posters in that thread weren't even alive during the 70's and early 80's, when Carlton were allegedly doing untold and irreversible psychological damage to Pies supporters.

Are they doing a 20 to 1 countdown of your "ridiculous" comments in that thread over the last few years as well? Or is it too difficult to narrow down?

Elliot 2022 makes them spew?

I reckon I could do a 50-1 countdown of the dumbest s*** you've personally written about Carlton and every one of them would go ahead of any posts from Carlton contributors in terms of sheer idiocy.

Starting with that we'd come 17th in a year we played in a prelim.

Probably true mate but your predictions about the Pies pre season would be a good opening act

It's a list management and club culture problem before any coaching.

They have always struck me as one of the least agile clubs, like they are still stuck in the John Elliott ways of buying the best players and 'We're Carlton, **** the rest'.

Sydney made B2B GFs without Buddy, winning one, then two GFs in three years with Buddy, winning none. Hawthorn made B2B GFs with Buddy, winning one, then B2B GFs without Buddy, winning both. Arguably the best player this century (top 5 anyway) moving between two of the contending clubs didn't really change the fortunes of either. That's how hard it is to win flags. Carlton give me vibes that they think if they can swap Harry McKay for another mid they will win the flag.

Seems like 2/3 of the threads are just s****ing on Carlton anyway
Is that a bad thing? The sheer arrogance circa 2023 finals makes this pretty sweet return serve.

Such a shame their best season this century ended in a Pies flag. 🥲
They were on the verge of a dynasty though.

Was set to be a revolutionary dynasty too. Most are littered with stars on every line. Theirs was going to be littered with talentless turds on every line. #visionaries

I rustled some jimmies by suggesting that Collingwood had room for improvement this season and Carlton didn't.

You know, the team that almost made the 2022 GF and won the 2023 GF that had a down year last year, and added Dan Houston and Harry Perryman. That team.

Don't get me wrong I take no joy from Collingwood being 10 points clear on top but I was hardly betting on a 20:1 outsider here...

Carlton fielded 5 players against Port that are turning 26 this year or older and have not yet played 100 games. How is that even possible?

People are obsessed with Pendlebury and Sidebottoms ages. The other elderly blokes are all 33 or under which is hardly fossilised these days. And the two elderly blokes are probably playing at a comparable level to their career years. The cliff will come but why wouldn’t we load up this year. Seems a good decision so far despite what we were told all summer
