Should the club tap Tex and Rory on the shoulder now? possible farewell game

Tex is doing more than enough to go on again - no question. He certainly has his loud detractors (or at least one prominent one) who constantly belittle the great man. But both his ongoing leadership/heart and soul status and game smarts like taps ons, positioning, “spikes” from marks etc make him so much more valuable than just his goals and goal assists.

IMO he is more important and reliable than Fog to our chances this year. You would imagine 2026 would be his last but who knows.

Not sure how anyone could not love Tex, one of the games most sublimely skilled talls we have ever seen. HE is our player I most hope gets a flag before retiring. It would be justice.

Watching Tex get a premiership medal would make a grown man cry of joy.

Another one of my posts that aged well......
I think you raised a more than reasonable question at the time. Tex and the team struggling with no realistic chances for finals.

It’s others views from this year despite all the evidence to the contrary - regularly rammed down our throat - that he is too old, selfish and shouldn’t even be playing this year that are much more inappropriate.

From memory there was even a joke opinion that Sam Draper could effectively offer up as much as Tex next year as a tall forward based on a grand total of 7 goals in 5 games! Absolutely bloody ridiculous comparing the great man who averages 2.3 goals per game over his brilliant career to reverse-checkside Draper kicking 7 goals in 2025 (and averaging 0.55 goals per game over his career). Thank God Draper ain’t coming here

You brought the best out of Tex.

Still believe we should be managing him for more games to extend his career.

24th in the AFL for Goals. 6th in the AFL for Goal Assists.

Astounding that some have expressed he shouldn't be in our best 22.

Will be massive to have him in our side during the finals.
They have no idea and are absolute **** Witt's. They have been a bit quiet lately but if we don't win the flag you can be sure they'll be back out saying its because of Tex

There is a fair bit of context that needs to be included here. To be fair, Tex had a run of shit games. We were losing and questions had to be asked. Doesnt make us wrong it makes us critical of his form at that time. Just like living off the now doesnt make you right either.

He wasn't our only key forward to have a run of average games but he was the one copping it. Same goes for the people calling for Milera to be dropped hahaha no ****ing idea, are they glad we got games in to him now?

He was copping it because of his age. I agree with Milera though, that was our usual bigfooty bad call. Had a terrible run at that really. Im as guilty as most. But I always at least preface my posts with Im happy to be proved wrong. At the end of the day its all about success and we want the same thing.
