Should be a cracker. Just can't go past Brisbane though.

Tipped them for B2B in the pre-season, and while they've thrown in some mundane performances over the course of the year, they've brought their best when it's been required. If they bring it, it's just a gear that the rest can't reach IMO.

It's like this group has finally realised how good they can be after a few failures over the years, and need a 'challenge' of sorts to click into gear.

Lions by 17 points.

You will find plenty of hopeful Geelong fans but not many full of confidence. The white out wipeout was Geelong's worst showing in years. Honestly, the Cats should run out in their navy clash to put that game behind them. Still think we are a chance but we need to put it all on the line.

If the cats match or gain the ascendency in the midfield, I think the Lions will struggle to contain Cameron/Shannon Neale.

Agreed.

In our favour are their absentees, and two important midfielders coming in for their first game back. Will Berry or Neale really underperform though? I kind of doubt it. Even if they do, Brisbane have a whole set of other midfield options that can and probably will give their forwards plenty of good supply.

Payne and Answerth are important Lions defenders that are missing. Coleman they are used to playing without by now. Hipwood isn't much of a miss, although he does always have potential to pull out a random big performance.

Geelong really have no injuries or players that appear battered. Our veterans all seem somewhat fresh and in form, although Blicavs will have been grateful for the week off.

MCG factor? Brisbane play there less often, but at least as effectively as Geelong. Home crowd/umpire influence will be marginal rather than hostile. It's essentially a non-factor.

The big factor for me is whether Geelong can keep all of Bailey, Rayner, Cameron, Lohman and Morris on a leash? They hurt us in the prelim and generally I'd say have been on top of our defenders during the last few clashes. Whereas Brisbane's defenders, relatively speaking, have kept Geelong's forwards under better control. If that script gets flipped Geelong should win, but it's a big if.

As a Lions fan it's weird to be slightly confident going into a final at the MCG. The cats are a fantastic team with stars all over the park but I do feel our game style and match ups go quite well against them.

Should be a cracking match that I would expect to be a close one.

I get the feeling that whoever wins this match will win the flag. Feel they're both a level above the Pies and the teams outside of the top four and their finals experience will serve them well against the Crows.

The match itself is a 50-50 though, really hard to tip. Should be a belter and hopefully it's a worthy sequel to the amazing Prelim last year.

will be a arm wrestle..
confident and running brizzy vs the strong and confident cats.
huge clash

If we can't beat them this time, I'm not sure when.

They're a bit banged up, we're not. They've only become more inefficient inside 50 as the year has gone on (they and Collingwood are one of the lowest ranked in the league for goals per inside 50). Our midfield is drastically different from when we last played them.

I could even see an argument for us winning this one and then being beaten by them in the Granny. But this one? Perfect build up to knock them off.

Plus there are some pretty short memories about our record against them. We've had a curious ability to lose a key player to injury mid-match in all our recent games against them. Even the pantsing they gave us was skewed by inaccuracy (14.8 d 6.15). That's the only 3 goal + defeat the Cats have had all year; Lions have had a couple of spankings and lost 2 of their last 5.

But when you're premier, you're certainly entitled to the benefit of the doubt.

These two played out a cracking prelim last year; what a treat to see them going at it in a final again.

Can’t get past the thumping the Lions gave Geelong earlier this year though. Just feel they match up pretty well on the Cats.

Re-watched mini match of the game. Their highly accurate kicking vs our wasteful kicking at goal.
Was a more competitive match than the margin suggested. 6.15 to 14.8

Two great sides, been there, done it before, plenty of finals experience so it all adds for a great QF. Geelong keen to avenge their preliminary final loss from last year, Brisbane looking to continue greatness. The Cats are better this year but the Lions still as hungry. 50/50 game on paper for me.

This is why the club paid a lot of money for Bailey Smith. To perform like a superstar during September action.
His inclusion, along with a healthy Stewart & De Koning are considerable factors.

I also think the MCG plays a big part as we are able to use our outside run with explosive types, Mannagh, Martin, Smith, Holmes, Humphries and Dempsey using their speed on transition.

Cameron to kick a lazy five goals as Cats topple Brisbane by 15 points and advance to another preliminary final.
