Pedlar won his spot, Taylor goes out for Rachele.... Hell could easily drop Keays after that performance
Lol yeah let's drop more forwards and keep the ridiculous 9 defender structure

The absolute worst part of tonight, the outright worst and the players deserve the biggest bake of their careers was the lack of heart and soul.

This is the first final the club has had since 2017, including a period of being the worst side in the comp and Tex 300. The players could barely muster the energy to fight. Where the **** was the heart?

Right now, I feel let down and it does in my opinion asks a massive question of Nicks and the culture he has built.

Jesus, we are going to have to hear about this crap for the next week from the frothing Victorian media. We don't need our own supporters moaning about it as well....
Well it was stupid wasn't it?? Did you not see the media circus the last two weeks??

Did people honestly think booing the player that the homophobic slur was said to makes our club and supporter look good?? It bloody doesn't it and it's embarrassing.

Yes the incompetent selection of 9 defenders was largely responsible for Michalanney’s pitiful performance, I agree. If only there was any way to have seen that coming. Oh, anyone with a clue did.
Bad but not why we lost. Can’t have 14 players with less than 10 touches at 3 quarter time and win

Biggest difference was their pressure on our midfield, and their ability to get it on the outside to their runners. All of our clearances were rushed, scrambled kicks. They then set up their backs forward of their opponents as in most cases these tend to drop short. Football 1 on 1.

All our mids were reactionary again, Peatling, Soligo and Berry in particular. They always seemed one step behind their opponents, so when they cleared it - with slick, fast handballs, we were chasing jumpers all night, hence easier ball into their forwards in comparison to us.

BTW, I was happy with Bond's game - he can hold his head high.

Legitimately atrociously hideous: The fox commentary was some of the most insufferable I’ve ever heard
Yeh roo saying keays was keeping an eye on Josh daicos when he’s had 14 and 300m gained 5 mins into the third and keays had 3 touches was ****ing insuffferable

As awful as we were if we took our chances late in the third and early in the last amazingly we could still have pinched it.

We lacked composure from the captain down all night apart from some fleeting moments in the first half. I thought we looked really tired in the third, like we’d spent a lot of nervous energy. Some really poor decision making around stoppages cost us several goals.

Not much else to say other than hopefully we’ll be better for the experience and will show up with more intensity next week.

Wasn’t given a clear role tonight.

Mind you our system was poor everywhere.

Bottom line is our midfield got another smashing & we just didn’t get enough quality ball into our forward line.

Only Tex & Pedlar looked likely up forward.

Geez, we had some dumb moments, particularly 2 from Filthy.
That Thilthorpe handball to Keays is going to live long in my memory for years to come… a horrible moment that both players f**ked up and unfortunately should/will carry it with them in their careers unless they can achieve team success.

To be fair it’s not the first time that keays has demonstratively called for the footy. It’s in his wheelhouse to push so hard and look for that easy one and lose his shit when he doesn’t get fed it.

You’d love thilthorpe to just kick that and tell him to get ****ed

Absolutely. Virtually none of our best players or midfielders showed up. Dawson. Thilthorpe. Soligo. Peatling.

But when you have a selection panel who completely ****s the team balance for no reason whatsoever, it certainly doesn’t provide any assistance.

When 2 of your best 5 players are Pedlar and Laird, and Laird is thrown into the midfield for the first time all season out of sheer desperation (and outperforms literally every other mid after being thrown into there), you’d be flat out beating West Coast.

I could see it coming all week. We were no chance at winning. First final in 8 years, playing against the biggest side in the competition, dealing with pathetically unfair favoritism (I know we were the underdogs). People saying they were cooked. We were no chance. That's why I tipped the Pies, they ALWAYS thrive here. Maybe losing R23 would have done us better.

We choked big time. Another Thursday night flop. And we deserve to hear it from the opposition supporters.

It was a pathetic effort and should have been beaten by more, esp the start of the 3rd quarter.

Thilthorpe messed it up big time when he passed up an open goal in the 4th that could have changed momentum.

Right now we'll never beat this team in September with this kind of stage fright. If it's Hawthorn next week, it could be straight sets. We have a long long way to go and we cannot go back into our shells after this season.
