I’m not here to gloat one bit, and I never would to be honest, I just feel the fatigue is at fever pitch right now, more than ever … it turns quickly, cats will be on the recieving end shortly, don’t think otherwise
Id say it's the cycle of you blokes, Collingwood, Brisbane etc that everyone is sick of. Were close to getting that feeling again after being in the background since the threepeat.

We have at least had down periods in between our periods of success not been thereabouts since 2004. When we are up and about we cash in generally. I'd say we're lagging behind you blokes and Collingwood now when it comes to who fans are sick and tired of and BTW I'm not sledging it's a compliment.
I get your view as well.
I guess my soap box is, I would never try pull down the great sides of hawk in their successful period, or lions, or tigers etc…

I just feel like Geelong has had to work hard for their success, but most are keen to look for excuses outside the hard work and good planning, and try cut them down… I guess I should t take the bait

You double dip with a Victorian fixture as well as a genuine home ground advantage. Thats the biggest leg up of any club in the league. Hence why you always fail when finals come.
Victorian club plays in Victoria. Huge if true.

Team with best away record of last 15 years relies on home ground too apparently.

Have a pull mate

Trust me when I say I’m jealous of the hawks’ ability to make the most of their ‘up’ time

We hate you bastards because of what you have become trust me. Good thing on our end is that were as close to being at the level required as we have been for a decade to challenge repeatedly again and renew a proper rivalry with you guys.

We have a few players who’ve been done for it: Dempsey got fined for it and he’s seemingly learned his lesson and it’s drifted out of his game.

He was one. Selwood obviously had a technique that he adhered to and as most cats fans acknowledge he trod a line between trying to actually win the ball and break tackles but also force the opponent to take him high and give away a free.

I don’t think we have others that are ‘notable’ for it as such. Most players probably ham it up to some degree but that from Rayner tonight was pretty abysmal. The first one was just a joke.

The second one was there - ironically Zac Guthrie is a player who should not have come rushing in but is one guy who would never feign for a free in a situation like that, though he DID push Rayner pretty hard. His action was just silly. But it shouldn’t have come to that in the first place
Fair minded response.

Yeah, I was mostly thinking about Selwood. I think there were one or two others to lesser extents though their names escape me.

The second free was technically there but I hate seeing those played in finals. The ump had no feel for the game.

Fair. Your coach would seem to agree that flags with father sons in them don't count either...
Win one without a merge or unfair academies

Always been his issue. Refused to drop Rich and Gunston when they were in historically bad form a few years back. It was soo bad that they both chose to drop themselves for the benefit of the side.

He’s loyal to a fault.
He would have bent over backwards to get the current Gunston running out for them last night

Like I said the Guthrie one, fair play. I sit there and I yell at the tv and say ‘mate you’re a dickhead just stay out of it’ because only bad can ever come of it and you’ve been sucked in.

But it happens because an umpire has basically made a conscious decision to try and insert himself into the game, and a player has made a conscious decision to feign for a free for something that for all intents and purposes didn’t happen in the first place (the initial free). That shove from O’Connor wouldn’t have knocked over a mannequin.

Guthrie was utterly braindead do run in. Simply stupid. But it comes from something that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. And Guthrie as a player who I know doesn’t play that way, would have probably seen it from that perspective when he came running in.

Thats been said for a while now the cliff is coming, I've given up and so have alot of sensible posters on our board.

I'm sorry but if every other team got given 2 number 1 draft picks (2 x Ashcrofts) and another first rounder in Fletcher. Plus multiple NGA's, then they'd be not only making but winning grand finals. Inexcusable not to be winning with that unchartered Gifting.

It’s inexcusable with some of the draft hands you’ve had not to be doing the same but here we are

Gunston's form this year is why Fagan persisted for him for so long despite his performances that year. Unfortunately I don't think he's heart was ever in it at Brisbane
Never in my wildest dreams did we think he would wind back the clock like this. Only other year I remember him playing this well was 2018. Got his body right is the key.

Because of the leg up you continually get whilst passing it off as “good management”. There’s an element of that, sure, but you’re also the most gifted side in the comp

Sure we are.

You just saying that over and over again doesn’t make it true.

Sure we are gifted as in ‘we are incredibly gifted at picking gun players from the arse end of the draft or from left field’ if that’s what you mean.’ But that’s about where it ends

which draft hands? let me know. Melb has been the most disadvantaged club in terms of father/sons and nga's so that's the only reason. We get Mac Andrew we win another flag. Give us 2 Ashcrofts we win another 2.
