Now that the dust is settling on a season-best performance, do we think Scott was playing 4D chess when we lost to the Lions at KP?

In that game we had:
  • Mullin on Charlie Cameron while McCluggage smashed us
  • MOC floating around without a clear role (only 8 possessions)
  • Jack Martin at half back
  • Danger getting frostbite in the forward line, only attended 2 centre bounces all game

Fast forward to Friday night:
  • Mullin holds McCluggage to his lowest possession count since R1, 2023
  • MOC close checking Rayner and does just as good a job as his role on Heeney a few weeks ago
  • Jack Martin has replaced Henry forward and added a new dimension
  • Danger attends 14 centre bounces and 14 of his 19 possessions come outside of forward 50.

I wonder if Scott was allowing the Lions to show most of their cards that night, as he got to work on a plan to nullify their strengths when it mattered.
No way. Not your last part.
Sure I think coaches try stuff. But they will never give up a game.

We shut down the handball. Which always lead to chip kicks that open gaps. Pure and simple.

Steven King said it before the swans game. " we won't be allowing short kicks".
We've changed it up.

They showed footage of Cam Rayner sooking it up to the umpires behind the play on First Crack last night, moments before he flopped for a free. So he's not only a flopper, he's a sook as well.
I actually love that King got visably upset at that as he knows that shit isn't on

I don't think it was so much we gave up the game but maybe Scott thought we could win without pulling certain levers.

In hindsight we couldn't but we played very badly that game, maybe if we played well we could have won without those levers.

Wasn't that the game the flu was supposed to have gone through the club?

I think Scotty treats H&A games as experiments (like SpaceX treat their Starship test flights). He doesn't mind losing a few of them. In fact, I think he would rather be caught dead than have a perfect H&A season.

He likes to lock in early wins before other teams hit their stride. Long before speed became a focus, it was endurance. Finishing games strong. Finishing seasons strong. He's always valued versatility.

I think Scotty is ahead of his time in what he measures/values. Like Musk introduced reducing cost of tonnage to orbit, Scotty must be measuring/optimising new (unknown to us until he writes a book) variables.

Earlier on in his coaching, Scotty said that he made a mistake retiring ageing stars early. Now everyone is emulating us. Many 30+ players are still fit and also function as on-field coaches for our young talents.

In time, Scotty should be our CEO after handing the reins to Nigel Lappin. Would love Kelly as the coach too!

It's comforting to know for a side that's had such a soft draw we have now won a game against every other team left in the race for the flag.

It certainly is a rapid keepings off game requiring precision disposals, and if they are pressured enough, it falls apart. Our pressure was insane.
I suspect we will need that against Hawks to the same degree- hunting and harrassing them ad nauseum, and we win.

At the game it was clear to see what we were doing.

We were set up in a zone in our fwd half and we would stand off just enough to tempt the lions to take an option to pass to and then close in at the player who received the ball at top speed and shut down or slow them down enough to tackle from behind, or the side or wherever. The lions were constantly handvalling themselves into more and more pressure.

It was a very deliberate plan made just for Brisbane and everyone of our players need to be in sync for it to work....absolute Chris Scott master-class.

Gryan has got a bit of fire with the Umps. So funny.

Mc Cluggage pushes Mullin on the ground, stands over him, won't let him up.

Gryan to Scrump: WELL THAT"S A FREE THEN! Oh we 're going to be doing that all day are we?

Check out the clip on The ROAR dot com.

I remember screaming at the TV when that happened. Considering what went before.
So was wrapped to see Gryan give it to the yellow maggot. Hilarious.
Oh well, umps will be well aware now to ignore Cam Raygun's antics. :)
And put a watch on the other blond staging muppet having a laugh with Stewart.
