You’d think that could have been something negotiated out when the AFL agreed to the recent GF extension. Even buying the rights to the seats back and effectively breaking even on the sale would be an improvement. But then there’s their own memberships polluting the ticketing.

The certainly did negotiate with the Vic government but each and every condition favoured the Vics except getting more access to the G (has this actually occurred tho?).

Have you ever had a finals ticket as a Crows member at the MCG?

If yes, were you sitting in the MCC Area or the AFL Members Area?

For all finals at the MCG, the areas available to members of the interstate teams in the finals are at either end of the ground. Members of the competing Victorian Clubs double dip. A lot of the MCC and AFL members are also members of Collingwood, Richmond, Melbourne, Hawthorn etc. In the Collingwood preliminary final a lot of the fans in the MCC and AFL Areas will be Collingwood supporters. The remaining Collingwood members get to compete for the remaining 50,000 tickets with members of the competing team (Brisbane or Gold Coast).

My point was in response to your statement that we shouldn’t complain about the access to seats for visiting fans since finals are different, the AFL control ticketing and their is equal access to the members of both clubs.

This is bullshit. For the finals at the MCG there is greater access for members of the Victorian Clubs. Now the excuse is that this is an arrangement between the AFL, MCG (and the Victorian Government). So….. why can’t there be an arrangement between the AFL, Adelaide Oval and the SA government.

Now, I am fully aware that the answer is It’s Tradition, It’s really a VFL competition.

I’m referring to ‘available’ tickets. I guess it’s a bit like the argument about NGAs/FS etc, some people say pick 4 is still pick 4 because it gets you the 4th pick in the available pool, even though you actually selected at 6. We know the MCC and AFL carve out a portion of the MCG that isn’t available to be divided between competing club members. Tickets for the available seats are allocated consistently across the board.

I like the idea of a 50/50 finals crowd, but I do understand it’ll never happen against a big Vic team at the G because nearly all the MCC and AFL tickets will end up in the hands of a fellow Victorian in the event the owner doesn’t want to go.

I wouldn’t argue if the clubs pushed for a 15k head start and either sold a guaranteed seat fee or the first ballot was only eligible crows memberships. I don’t see it as a big deal though, playing GFs at the MCG is much bigger inequity as far as I’m concerned. What did the AFL get for locking it in for further decades?

Tens of Millions in upgrades to the MCG and Marvel I think to allow more people and money

We need to get over the No Rankine No Crows.

Gallagher our solitary injury with Rankines suspension. We have our entire list to choose from otherwise.

Missing one first choice player, regardless of how important, should not be the difference between minor premiers and straight sets exit.

I wouldn’t. I don’t want loosening off the rust and wasting his petrol tickets whist the game is at its hottest. If he gets injected early due to injury, so be it, but I don’t think that’s what’s best for his overall output.

It's a knockout final. We need our best players on the field to win the game. Rachele is in our top 5.

Fully fit Rachelle is, but he’s not going to be going at 100% after a couple of months off with a knee injury. Over 4 quarters I’ll be surprised if he’s in our best dozen players. Could be in our best 5 second half players if he starts as sub though. Injury notwithstanding, reality is that he’s probably only going to play half a game anyway. I’d prefer it’s the second half.

Precisely, I don't buy the whole MCG holds all the power and can do what they want rubbish. AFL could easily have said it should go to a neutral ground each year, or the home ground of the top seed. MCG would have jumped and asked how high.

It's one of those things I never thought about pre-covid but you're right. Running around high fiving 200 people that may or may not have very good hand washing habits. It's a surprise it doesn't happen more often.
During the normal season, sure. At finals time? No way. Unnecessary risk.
Have an open training sure, but no physical contact.

If he's rusty you're asking him to come on half way through the third quarter (which is when we usually make the sub) and blow out his cobwebs at the end of the match.

Eventually he works into the game and then it's... over

The first 15 minutes will be hot. I would start Rash on the interchange bench and bring him on half way through the first quarter. Providing we don’t start like we did against them last time, it will lift the crowd and hopefully spark the team.

If we stay healthy then he can be subbed off late in the third quarter.
