He seems young at heart. Doesn’t appear to have any family commitments. I get the impression the football club and his teammates are his life. Can’t see him finishing up until he absolutely has to and is not afraid of doing the work to keep it going as long as possible.
For me it’s more his running ability. He’s at an age where long distance runners are going strong. If he keeps the footy related wear and tear to a minimum as he’s done so far then I can’t see why he should give it away anytime soon.

I know we've had a bit of discussion within this thread of where SDK may fit into our structure next season, with a thought that maybe we don't necessarily lose too much during those periods he's not in defence

Statistically this season he's been our most reliable tall defender when it comes to situations like 1-vs-1

And while there's no doubt that's an area he's struggled in over the past couple of seasons, he's actually performing better in those contests than he was in 22 when a lot of us got excited by what we thought we'd be seeing from him over the next decade

Looking at his numbers, it gives confidence for what we may just see from him as a KPD over the next decade if we settle him into a role in defence

If I’m Mackie, I’m not offering more than our Round 1 and R3. Tell Saints to take it or leave it. Not ideal but just back Rhys in for one more year until Conway or Edwards are ready for 2027.
I think this will be our offer

If Marshall stays, it will be very awkward for the 2 players and the club. What will they do when Marshall is playing better than TDK which will happen at some stage?
Marshall has been main man for much of his time there, but now will be second fiddle and have to play largely as a forward which he may well dislike.
With all their trading, the Saints need the draft pick Marshall will get them.
Yeah there's a lot of posturing about how they don't need to trade him and want to keep him, so the Cats will need to pay MaSSiVe OvErS.

In reality, I think they'll be happy with whatever they can get to help with all of their other trades.

Thanks for that!. I had the impression he had done well this year, but now we have the stats to back it up. I think he gets ‘marked down’ by some here because of his body language. When COS loses a contest, he shakes his head, punches his fist and gives every indication that he is annoyed with himself (and he is ofc). SDK, though, is more likely to just hang his head and mope off, looking like he doesn’t really care, but underneath he is probably seething.

I thought his game last Friday was almost flawless. Fort outmarked him once. His goal came right at the time when everyone else had been missing (it was 4.11) and it helped steady the collective nerves when going for goal, they kicked 12.5 after that.

And look at the defensive loss figures for the 2 Irish assassins! Oisin wins 9 out of 10 defensive contests (as well as having the highest number of pressure acts).

what about a ned moyle? wont cost a lot in terms of picks or cash and GC need some later picks for bids, etc.

Another who is contracted. Gold Coast would have him pencilled in to take over when ever their main main retires. He must be happy with the arrangement as he has had chances and offers before.
I think Gold Coast would let go several others before him

Everyone that is realistic sees it that way.

In the end it’ll just depend on if the saints are happy to move him on or not.

With a million guys coming in + TDK, it makes sense to make the trade… but they have to give off the persona of not wanting to trade him, even if they actually do, so they can get the most they can off us.

It sounds like another deadline trade with both sides being determined… If we cant get it done one might think that would just about be it for them getting something worth while in 2026 and later.

If no Marshall then Id move on and focus on rucks out of contract in 2026 ..and see if we could shake their tree. Madden at GWS for example

Good post and I appreciate the effort you've gone to but I'm instantly suss on how this is tracked when it's suggesting Henry is losing approx 70% more of his one on ones. Yes the eye test can lie but there's just no way.

They should start tracking how many times a defender is smoked on the lead because SDK would be leading that by the length of the Flemington straight this season haha.

He played really well last week, more than happy to see more of that mentality moving forward.

I imagine that's exactly what they will do, foxdog50 and I have the intel! Trust me!

Can picture Wells and Mackie sitting in their office when the phone rings with FLAMING DRAGON Stephen Silvagni on the other end of the line... Mack Attack answers and the below ensues!

I'd be happier to use our first round pick in part of a trade for an established mid, and then look at a cheaper ruck option

There's no such player on the market this year thats gettable with our r1 though (hence worpel as FA).

Moyle is contracted until 2028 and they see him as witts successor. Would cost a lot to get out. Otherwise I would agree

We aren't spending $1 mill, a first round pick and a 3rd round pick on a ruckman.

We just aren't. There's non available that are worth that.

I wouldn't be surprised if we used our 2nd pick on a Ruck from Alice Springs (I just made up a town) to be honest.

Don't be surprised if we do on marshall this is a crap draft compared to a normal draft.

They want something they can on trade for Ryan on top of a round 1 pick.

You just offer them our r1 (will be 17-18 and 20s after bids) and our r2 for marshall and their r3 or r4.
Allows them to trade the Geelong 2025 r2 or stkildas future 2nd for Ryan
Should be straightforward IF they are reasonable.

So what do they trade for Ryan if we say see ya ..and walk away? What if WC say ..what ever you get for Marshall is what we want?
Agree. My honest take on trade proposals here:

1) Information Asymmetry - Folks here have nowhere near the information that the Poach Brothers (Wellsy/Mack) have. Please don't tell me you are ITK (trade stuff is closely held). What you're stating as ITK is the feelers they are putting out. If you are rehashing what's in the Media, say so.

2) More prone to Cognitive Biases - E.g Anchoring. Someone comes along and says 3 First rounds and everyone starts from around that mark.

3) Discounting our Leverage - Like Turbocat said. The first rule of negotiation is to be able to walk away. Wellsy is just more polite than Mack in doing so. Also, you have no idea how badly the other party wants to sell and how much the impending deadline disproportionately impacts them. The Poach Brothers do.

4) Overpricing Players - Just because you think Player X is "crucial" doesn't make it so. There is always other options. I bet a lot of you overpriced Bailey while the Poach Brothers stuck to their guns.

5) Tunnel vision - You've no idea who/what is in the pipeline over the next few years, Salary Cap machinations etc. The Poach Brothers have everything strategised. It is their job.
..

Please don't go all 1st Amendment on me. Of course, you are free to discuss at length on your opinions. They are just that. Opinions. Just as long as you don't lose your cool and get into flame wars over it.
