Autopsy 1st Semi Final 2025: Hawks send Crows out in straight sets!

That is true. But the shit coming out of the mouths of some our fans in 127 was absolutely embarrassing. Including the slur that got Rankine suspended.

Amazing night on the field, but very poor performances in the crowd where I was sitting. Took a bit of shine off it for me, won’t be in a rush to take my kids to the footy.

Yeah, we have a problem at our club. And one of the reasons it doesn't get called out enough.

Had a quick look on the Cats page and interestingly enough the Hawks player they seem most concerned about isn't Newk or Gunners it's Meek.

I can see their concern, his Lordship does have a good record of beating up on the more "B" grade rucks like Stanley. He's also got a huge size advantage on Stanley.

If Meek can play a blinder we are 80% on the way to beating the pussycats as we don't often (ever?) lose when he goes full Meek Mode.
It’s a good observation by Cats fans. When Meek dominates we rarely lose. And ruck is Cats weak spot

I'd like to see Meek push deep forward next week as I don't think Stanley can go with him in the air.

Stanley is decent(ish) around the ground as a mobile ruck but he will be fighting out of his weight division against Meek in the ruck.

mostly been said, but for me what I loved most was we answered every time they challenged. Gave them no chance. Great to see after not being able to stop the run on last week.
On CJ it’s been said the 2 free kicks weren’t his fault, Dimma had a mare on the first and the other he hand balled. There are 2 problems with CJ, first is he tries to do things he’s not capable of, he needs to play within his limitations. The second is he’s not competitive enough, he always opts out when smothering, the Rachele goal off the ground he essentially escorted him to the ball and let him score. Someone needs to point it out and he changes those things then he’s best 22, if not ship him off whilst he has currency. Tell him to watch Butler or even Mac Andrew, who has absolutely no body mass but is a totally competitive beast never taking a backward step or opting out. CJ is much more physically developed he should be better. If HMo were available he wouldn’t be playing.

It's funny with Harry's injury we are essentially playing a player with completely diametrically opposed strengths / weaknesses in CJ.

Harry's strengths are his composure with the ball and his hardness. His weakness is his athleticism / speed.

Absolute complete opposite to CJ in terms of weaknesses and strengths.

Sam loves analytics. I assure you his views on CJ are very different to what this board thinks about him.
Probably, but his analytics would say the same as everybody else's.

Elimination final: lowest rated player
Semi final: 2nd lowest rated player, with only Tex in the negatives rated worse

Across the two games he's had 13 disposals, 5 clangers, 4 frees against, 25% kicking efficiency and an average player rating of 0.2.

I would suggest he was kept for consistency and because he's a big part of the energy of the team, but it can't continue.

That's not how he looks at it. Player Ratings are heavily flawed.

He's also part of the team because of positional flexibility. Our big shift the last two weeks has been CJ to a wing, replacing Weddle, who goes forward to challenge the opposition defence.

Who at Box Hill can perform that role? Seamus and BMac would require shifting our rock solid defensive structures - Sam has mentioned Weddle was put on a wing because our back 7 is playing inspired football.

Serong hasn't been selected once. HH is too slow in transition. Breust is a small forward and we have 5.

The only one is Mackenzie but a) his form at Box Hill hasn't been great, b) he still lacks a tank, and c) he has spent 0 time on a wing at BH.

Morrison and Maginness would be the logical choices given their flexibility, endurance and ability to play wing. But both are unavailable.

I agree that's why he was included in the first place when it was obvious that Harry wouldn't be available, but CJ didn't play that role well in the 1st final and continued to not play the role well in the 2nd final.

He has been a net negative to the team in both games, at this stage we'd be better off picking someone else and just playing them out of position.

I hope Sammy pulls Ginni aside this week and tells him he does not have to get in the face of the opposition EVERYTIME they stuff up and we kick a goal or we get a free kick for goal.

I have nightmares about one of our blokes about to kick the winning goal and it’s reversed because he can’t cool his jets.

PLEASE Ginni don’t even give the umpires the slightest reason to reverse a free kick because the umpires will at the speed of light give Geelong a free kick reversal.
He’s only learning from his captain…….

Merrett's champion data showed him top 5 for speed over certain distances that track in CJ range. Barass and Sic probably don't mind having a team mate who gets to 3 contests that they were too gassed to get to. Sharing this type of Intel is beyond this forum but loosely referred to as team balance.
Our 2021 AFL National draft picks are lifting in this current Final series.
Josh Ward - pick 7
Sam Butler - pick 23
Connor MacDonald - pick 26

Ward looking ripped. Cam Mackenzie needs to go shack up with him for the preseason and copy everything he does. Will he tje best thing for his career.
