Meeksy should have gone the old fashioned thump it forward 20m out of the ruck.

The only time we looked like getting a centre clearance was when Chol jumped and got the ball out of the ruck and kicked it forward himself.

If Gunston’s goal counted, or those weird calls go our way we are 30 points to the good at halftime. The Sicily interference and the inverse non-interference call (on the wing, can’t remember who) were massive swings.

They might have still mown us down but to say it didn’t play a factor because of the final score is a little too far

In the end 40 inside 50’s is not going to get it done , as Sam said in his pressor trying to win the game from the back half against a seasoned finals team like them was never going to get it done. Read a lot of the posts and understand the disappointment, but fringe parts of the game like CJ’s performance had absolutely no impact on the game, a lot of the parts of our game worked, but we were beaten up around the ball and stoppages , we know that we lack depth and class in the midfield and the club have already signalled what they are wanting to do to fix that!

We are a young list still developing with a bright future , this club is ruthless and will do what it needs to do to take the next step. Bring on 2026!

All said just didn’t capitalise when we dominated early and can’t win when getting that badly beaten in the middle. Credit to the boys though, after the cats quickly put a gap on us after half time they fought it out. Umpiring is diabolical independent of the result it’s a major problem for the game. I now have changed I hate them more than the scum. Largely due to their position in the game but I’m sick of losing to them especially Danger flog.

I kept yelling at the screen for meek to thump the ball away from the clearances, but he kept trying the same thing which played in to geelongs hand.

He should have tried to take the close in mids at the stoppages out of the play. Mix it up.

Great season. Especially after day went down and it all looked shot. A prelim final is a great result.
As for last night - actually were quite efficient when we got the ball forwards and 85 points is ok for 40 entries . Our mids were just overwhelmed and cannot concede 66 entries to a Geelong side.
Umpiring very bad and cost us at least 3-4 goals. Butler in Q1 and Gunston in Q2 shocking and both impact momentum . I feel we are right in it. I would aim for Petracca if we could only get 1 of him and Merrett. Need a bigger mid to help newk and hopefully day

Lesson everywhere - for players, coach and club. The question is how much is learnt.

Hopefully Sam learnt plenty. Scott did him over. No shame in that. Scott is currently the best coach in the game. He came in with clear plan to neutralise our advantages - clamped Newk, planned to concede the tap to Meek and made that ineffectual, hard tagged Weddle and stifled that run and then just went to town at the stoppages with Dangerfield and their bigger bodies; absorbed our best hits in the first half and then torched us with their superior run as the game wore on.

I feel the only real match up win we had was Gunston who looked dangerous all night. But otherwise Scott planned for everything and executed it. Mitch had no answers

Agree to an extent but Scott has coached Geelong for 14 years, and they had that long to refine their list and enjoy the extra trapping$$$ they get from Cotton on, a billion dollar company that pours cash into the cats like the Barwon River. You can only play with the cards in your hand and Scott had a better hand. New digs, new lessons and new traded players and we will be in a similar space and possible contest for as long. Keen to see what these lessons bring Billyc, you learn most when you lose.

Personally I am ready for the a new season to start earlier in 2026.

Can each team please play each other twice one at home and one away.

Have a 3 week break in the middle of the season for trades and mid season draft.
