Autopsy 2025 Preliminary Final: Hawks get rolled

Disappointed our midfield was just bullied, but most other aspects of the game were decent enough. 20-5 tells the story.

I don’t want to jump down any one players throat, but boy I wouldn’t be disappointed to see CJ traded. It’s been a fun ride but I want to get off it now.

didn't see the umps themselves winning many clearances, surely mr September jai in his youthful prime should do it easy over a 36 year old?! surely!

No just the free kick to Henry against Gunston , when Henry simply slipped and fell over.

The out of bounds on the full against the cats in your forward line. Ended up a bounce.

The amount of times the cats where tackled in a 360 and not paid holding the ball to the Hawks.

No that didn’t help the cats get back into the game at all.

At the end of the day the biggest killer was failing to take our opportunities and removing any chance of a cats come back.

Anyway great game and riviallry, until the next game….

Commiserations on the loss, great season from your guys winning two away finals and putting up a very competitive prelim performance.

Just wanted I say I really rated Conor Nash’s game, probably the best game I’ve seen him play.

Also wondering if Harry Morrison was injured or just out of favour? I rewatched Easter Monday this week in the lead up to last night and he was comfortably one of your best that day.

Morrison has been injured - was ruled out from potentially getting back a week or two back .
Important structure/system player but wouldnt have made a difference last night

Out for the finals injured, would have definitely played otherwise. Cats much better team last night, but we we're a little banged up and missing a couple of key players that would have closed the gap a little.

On to next year

It’s a fools errand to try link the final score to each umpiring decision

There was a 5 minute patch in the second quarter where a string of genuinely bad umpiring decisions went their way. Before that we were up and about and looking like blowing them away

If Gunston’s goal counted, or those weird calls go our way we are 30 points to the good at halftime. The Sicily interference and the inverse non-interference call (on the wing, can’t remember who) were massive swings.

They might have still mown us down but to say it didn’t play a factor because of the final score is a little too far
The umpiring in finals had been mostly good up until this game. To have this happen diminishes our game.

When the umpiring is good people walk away from the game talking about the football. When it is bad it takes away from the spectacle and people talk about the umpiring.

And players like Dangerfield and Naicos aren't given the credit they deserve (whether you agree or not) because it is always looked at through the lens of the umpiring. As an example, Selwood's reputation will always be tarnished with him being a ducker. Compare that to Hodge or Martin.

Hey guys, excuse the intrusion, I just wanted to come in and say great game, and yeah...suck shit you losers
What's the point of this? Is your life so bad that this is how you get enjoyment?

Chol getting hung, drawn and quartered on SEN for not rolling Stewart in the tackle. Straight to the tribunal and 3 weeks minimum.
Give me a break.
I was at the game. Was Stewart subbed for concussion? I legit thought he'd broken his arm based on how he landed and that was the reason for him not coming back on.

Well it feels like a long time ago but was actually only 17 months ago we were 0-5 and the media were talking about 10 year rebuilds and seeing no light at the end of the tunnel and having the worst list in the comp . It’s actually quite unreal how far we have come in such a small amount of time.
It's reactive, hysterical and ignorant horseshit even comparing 2025 to 2001.

I actually commented on how good the umpiring in the Pies v Adelaide game week 1 was, it was excellent.

We obviously got the "B" division umps for last night though, it was terrible.
