We promised to be active during trade period which is positive. Previous years we have declared that we wouldn't be and it's been hard to watch good teams getting better as a result.

Being active doesn't mean we will be successful so best to temper expectation.

It's at least something to knopw the club is trying to improve the list and being mentioned in big name acquisitions. We have a long way to return to the days of being innovative and successful out of trades and drafting. We reached so high that we were always going to be immitated and lose some ground. I back this professional outfit to come good.

Easy to look at Brisbane as the model now but they introduced three very good products out of Father and son where as we somewhat have not had the same commitment out of ours (Mitchell, Dunkley) Take those three out Ashcrofts and Fletcher and they come back in the pack a little. The only issue is the Swans being punished for their success as the AFL over react and try to adjust any perceived advantage.

The trade period is exciting as it teases hope to return to a better side. I read it all but take it all with a grain of salt. People who have some insider information and others just relaying rumour or media commentary. End of the day just have to be patient and let it play out. Can be an exciting time but history tells you that something will blindside you out of this period.

I appreciate everyone that contributes here. Grain of salt at times but this is the number one go to for Swans news updates as the club has to keep things close to their chest and can't be a source of news rigfht now.

Rosas announcement is encouraging, could be something that guy but most of all it's a positive "I choose Sydney" announcement.

Hasn't Max been in the Academy since he was 10, surely his footy IQ should be way more advanced than that of a non academy player, if not why isnt the academy identifying that and idenfying ways to fast track it?
That's a good question. Maybe his athleticism has allowed him to dominate without really refining his skills and footy iq. Thankfully these 2 areas are more amendable to coaching and training rather than certain physical attributes (natural strength, speed, explosiveness, height etc). His ability to take it all in once on the list will determine his ceiling.

I hope Geelong somehow make this work, they will have to do something crazy to facilitate a trade either losing key players in their system or scraficing draft picks. This isnt a Free agent who can accept lower $ and get topped up with farms / Cows or Cotton On. This is club who will need to trade to get him.

Curnow to Geelong is very simular to coming to Syd, will be a nice toy to have but really doesn't address the real list issues they have.
The Cats could give up a combination of Henry, Bruhn and Conway and rustle up a first, either current or future from somewhere. Fact that Curnow happy to play for "less" at Geelong helps too as Carlton could get his contract off the books. Wouldn't surprise me to see it get done.

September RMC power rankings:

King at #18 (was 17 in August, 16 in July)

Carmichael at #30 (was 26 in August, 24 in July)
With our pick 9 (which will be around 15), I'd be happy with Cumming, Greeves, Farrow or Lindsay. The former 2 are what we need on the inside whilst the latter 2 could play off HB / Wing and free Errol and Mills to play more on ball.

Any news on Mason Wood yet?

Happy about the Rosas call, don't know much about him but will take the word of those who say that nws his ltd Suns times, he's a talent. Hopeful he can become our 2025 Jimmy Jordon.

But what still grates is the amount of valuable draft capital we've spent on solving for this position and we still need to go to another club's discard pile to find a solution. We've just got to improve our drafting efforts or we'll become so reliant on the Academy, which inevitably the AFL will take away from us.

I disagreed with drafting a small fwd with our firsts in 2022 (Konstanty) and last year (Dattoli) but they were generally regarded as the best options at that point for the position, at least according to media, club rumours. Both would have been snapped up shortly after. I don't have any concerns re: Dattoli given the way he went about it at VFL level. He'll be much better off with a pre-season and a full season hopefully injury free, should get some more senior games.

You've just described Logan except Logan has runs on the board at the top level

Imo
Logan has a couple of years on him and a year last year without anyone in front of him.

Max kicked 3 and 3 last two H&A games then was omitted for Hogan. Up against it.
