I do this deal in a heart beat.

For those with short term memories
  • Florent couldn't get a game last season even with a whole lot of injuries to experienced players and is not in our best 22 next season
  • The Club has butchered every first round pick for the past 5+ years
  • Curnow is a genuine KPF who can takeover games off his own boot - none of our existing forwards are even close

Yes, we all love Hayward, but we had to give up something good to get a prized piece back. The rest is easy to swallow

Its not really a salary dump but more of a senior list spot dump or "adjustment"

As robbieando has pointed out we are ultra tight on senior list spots if we expect 3 academy matches in the national draft

Certainly isn’t a salary dump. Senior List spots need to be opened up to take our 3 required National Draft selections which two should at least be used on academy bid matches.

Florent does not seem to be rated by Cox and his situation has changed throughout this season, from a top 10 player under horse to the 2’s under Cox. At his best is a damaging running defender/midfielder who I think will suit Carlton, will be a point of difference. We have replacements for Florent.

Hayward is a tougher pill to swallow, as we don’t have many mid sized forwards and forward pressure from who would be left.
It may provide a spot for Dattoli, left field thinking, I reckon Blakey could play this role to perfection. Adds pace to the forward line, looked really good on the few times he played forward during the season.

If we don’t overpay on the picks for Curnow, this should be a win-win. Sorry to see a couple of long serving Swans go, but, to upgrade a KPF, tough calls need to be made. Curnow hopefully provides us the same value a Joe Daniher provided the Lions over a number of years of challenging for a flag.

Glad that the Rowbottom rumours have been quashed it would seem.

What are his injury concerns? He’s played 26 games in each premiership year.

Has lately but came to Bris with injury issues. Look he’s borderline as a first but think there’s a pick back. First for a third seems about right

Disagree on first round picks.

Too early to judge Green as a ruck and Dattoli, both are looking promising.

We'll see if Sheldrick improves his composure. Hopefully the extension settles him.

We'll see how Logan returns from injury.

I don't want to lose Hayward either but FMD if we really don't think the restructured forward line can collectively replace his 0.5 contested marks and 2.6 tackles per game, we're in pretty deep shit.

Just because he plays as a medium forward doesn't mean we have to replace him with one. 3 key forwards complemented by a fleet of smalls can work too.

Still all in on Rowbottom as a pressure forward, personally. Rosas' career best season for tackling also matches Hayward's (3.1 per game). They can pick-up the tackling slack while our improved key forwards can improve our presence in the air.

With a new lease of life he may end up being more than handy for you.

I rate him. Think he's a good solid role player that makes our team better. He was a mainstay in Longmire's team for his whole period at the Swans. As I've tried to explain to fellow Carlton supporters on our board, you don't suddenly turn shit after turning 26 and 164 games for Longmire. :)

Your first mistake explaining to fellow Carl supporters! The same group that rated Matt Owies. Need I say more?

King will take the Hayward role. Florent would be replaced by Carmichael. I think Harry Kyle has upside as a big inside mid. He is built like a Brick Shithouse and Kennedy's size in height. The difference is, he is effing quick.
Well then, they better ****ing step straight into those roles round 1 2026
