That umpiring was incredibly one-sided today. Every 50-50 was going Melbourne's way and it was wrecking Port's momentum. Promised I wouldn't scream at the TV this season, lasted abut 6 minutes with Sammy P-P's kavalcade of klutz in the first half. Bring on next week - time for a 2-0 start.

This performance was so much more than I expected. I thought if we saw signs from the rookies at AFL level, an understanding of the game plan, and some cohesion in a re-tooled team, I would be happy.

To do enough to beat Melbourne at the G, for the kids to influence the result and to come away thinking we could be so much better. Well, that was just being greedy.

I usually give Jetstar a lot of shit because of the whole tiny seats cramming too many passengers into planes thing. But I would like to recognise the outstanding work of the cabin crew on flight JQ776 departing Melbourne at 8:05pm tonight. The woman behind me was genuinely suffering from an anxiety-induced asthma attack before takeoff and the cabin crew were absolutely outstanding. They let her know that her wellbeing was more important than the other passengers’ mere convenience and that they wouldn’t be taking off until she was ready. They checked in with her regularly during the flight once we were in the air. It was superb service from a budget airline. Great people.

Biggest thing I noticed was the fact we were handballing in front of the player so they did not have to balk and could run on were last year either handballing behind the player or making them wait for it.. Skills were much better today good win

I put myself down to work being too cowardly to watch and am just home now at 10 at night, ready to watch the replay. I should say this is my usual practice for away games. People at work were only allowed to tell me if things were going well. When we won I was on a ridiculous high, as if I'd just snorted wiesn koks off of a barmaid's appurtenances. Is now my fave player after i met him recently. Such a cool young man.

I thought Houston was brilliant today. So composed and clean. If he continues, he will be an All Australian in the near future.

I like the Enright comparison floated earlier. A big call of course but I can see the similarities.

Dan Houston is a perfect footballer. Never misses a tackle. Never out positioned. Our very own Corey Enright.

His glaring weaknesses were his ability to absorb pressure in a marking contest, and his strength over the ball. The speed in which he has completely and utterly addressed those issues, since pretty much half way through last year, has been phenomenal. He truly is a gun now.
