My defence for suggesting that Himmelberg replace Jenkins is
1) I was in Melbourne and didn’t see Himmelberg play in the Twos and 9 marks sounded just what we need.
2) I was in Melbourne and believe it or not Jenkins looked even worse when watching the game live.
Other than the return of THE MIGHTY THOR my other five changes are unlikely to have a major impact other than reducing my pre-game frustration.
Jacobs for ROB, Stengle for Murphy, Himmelberg for Jenkins, Sholl for Kelly, etc.
Our problem isn’t the quality of our players, it is the poor form of most of our top twelve players.
The DON made a number of structural changes last week which were called for by Bigfooty but no one seemed to notice.
1) Chayce was playing on the wing prior to clumsily head butting the ground according to Brad Scott
2) CEY played as a defensive midfielder
3) Sloaney spent quite a bit of time as a deep forward
4) Laird spent less time deep in defence (unfortunately that meant Kelly and Hartigan spent more time deep)
5) We rotated more players through the centre square (Poholke, CEY, Milera)
6) Milera played on ball in the second half.
Unfortunately we are playing like a team with no confidence. Talia, Smith, Milera, Laird, Mrouch, Tex, JJ, Lynch, Gibbs and Eddie have all been well below their best. We want to see more from Hartigan, Kelly, Mackay, Atkins, ROB, Knight, Chayce, Murphy, CEY and Poholke but none of these players are likely to rip a game apart. The only players anywhere near their best are Brouch, Sloane and Keath.
I have no idea what we will serve up this week regardless of who we select. Fortunately I will be in Northern China, hopefully without access to the internet, for the next two weeks.
2. I didnt have a problem and called it before the game
3. Because CEY was on Cunnington it meant 1 player had to be out of the square and I think Sloane and Brad both spent time forward
6. Putting Milera in ''for experience'' was good but it meant we couldnt have CEY in there and that allowed Cunnington to get off the leash
Is that a fair assessment?
