Should read 'Johnson going janitor cleaning up the remaining shreds of Britains reputation'

come on, any day now the EU will come back begging the UK to let it accept all of the UK demands

remember the EU need the UK more than vice versa, and the UK have the whip hand in these discussions!!

They will give a big of ground on fishing, Brits will give ground on state subsidies and NI.

Easy for Boris to concede on state subsidies as no real conservative would be in favour anyway and it stops a madman like Corbyn from spending billions on nonsense. Ditto fishing, the Brits sell most of their fish os so they have to allow some EU boats in to retain market access.

All Brits have to get is to remove level playing field guff re taxes and employment law (which they long had an opt out over anyway).

Swiss voters have resoundingly rejected an attempt to tear up the country’s agreement with the EU on the free movement of people, in a referendum that echoed the Brexit vote.

Common sense prevails. But i thought anti-EU sentiment was rising lol. That's a comprehensive win for the EU and freedom of movement.

My sentiiments are the same as the article below. There's too much at stake for the UK and specially the pound which has been trading below 1.10 to the EUR for a while now. There is a big reason why the UK equities have underperformed Germany since the Covid saga began. It's a matter of time till BoE cut rates again and goes into negative territory in case no deal happens.

In a staggering development, one of the architects of Brexit, Dominic Cummings, is leaving his role as quasi-PM just as “s**t gets real”. This honours the great tradition of Brexiteers of not being available to take responsibility.

Joe Biden announced the US would re enter the Paris agreement within days of them officially leaving. Too much to hope for with brexit?

Brexit is an egg that cannot be unscrambled now.

Too messy to do, and eu would not really want to go through the hoops of re-admitting them. UK behaviour during brexit hasn't been endearing

I can tell you what's good out of it, funding of startup ventures for non eu (includes local UK too) companies! i got 2 and 3rd one in the line and will be approved! 2 of my startups are fully funded (govt backed loans interest free for the first 2 years) and i know startups with s**t concepts they are throwing money at! If you have a good concept and apply for grants to the govt and you are a non-eu company, chances are you will get it. But looking at other grants, most of these startups won't even grow into anything, they are just pure scams IMO.

“Let’s leave the undemocratic EU!”

Is it too much to hope that with Trump getting the lemon & sarse & Brexit turned into a great steamy pile of we might see the rabid nationalist RW frothing turned down a bit?

With the obvious points that our (AUS) 'nationalists' are closet (or even open) monarchists - they oppose chay-na but have revelled in similar relationships with UK then US since being a penal colony.

If anything I fear we'll see it grow more shrill. The demise of those you mention won't be their fault, it will be the fault of socialist, liberal globalists and the RW rabids will just double down.

Yeah it is, at least in the short term. They're so far down that road that they have no option other than to thrash around, blaming anything and anyone else for the mess they've gotten themselves into.
There's a line of thought now that we should all try to find a way to welcome them back, that somehow we were the ones responsible for their thoughts and deeds.
That's not a line of thought I can subscribe to, then again I don't much care for the idea of those people meeting up in basements and working on their "science projects" either.

Way too much mate.
It's never enough for them and that's the entire sticking point.

I still can't believe it's come to this. A no-deal scenario, said by Johnson's own government to be a terrible scenario, is the one his government is stumbling towards. They must be continually surprised their 'we hold all the cards' notion wasn't true.
