Realistically that's us done this trade period unless we can move up to pick 1, which I hope we do and it isn't just media noise . It's been said before , but surely North can't cry me a river for more picks then use 2/3 on getting pick 1. Also don't see them as open offering a future 1st purely based on the disaster from a couple years ago when they moved out of the super draft .

Hodge was a bust early but he has become the best performer in that draft, which was the best draft ever

Turnbull said “it was bloody hard”.

Ball the local Xavier boy with ties to the club, Judd with the shoulder injurys but explosive speed, but we knew Hodge was our man.

If we know Reid is our man, let’s go get him.

Get nothing for him, or get nothing for him?

A 3rd round or 4th round pick is not 'nothing' for **** sake. We need points for McCabe - if a pick comes in the first round we presently will be going into deficit for next year. We also need potential ammo to stave off a bid for TJ. Points are absolute gold this off-season for us - people proposing this PSD tantrum are losing sight of the bigger picture.

I just hope people understand McCabe is a tall skinny rake (skinner than DGB when he arrived) and a couple of pre seasons away from playing senior footy.

Melbourne could have benefited from adding Chol and were seemingly nowhere near this. Makes me wonder if the Lynch/Demons rumours have more to it.
Losing both Lynch and Riewoldt in one season and then replacing with Kosi. That's madness!

Pick 1 + JHF was traded for 2 and 3.
So Pick 1 + Pick 1 was traded for Pick 2 + Pick 3. As others have said let's hope West Coast see that as the benchmark.

Hawthorn: In Pick 1, Out Pick 3
West Coast: In Pick 3, Out Pick 1

Brocky --> (WCE) Pick 53
Pick 53 --> (Ess) D'Ambrosio
Pick 31 --> (GC) Chol
Kosi + Future Third + 50 --> (Rich) Pick 27 + Future Third
2024 First + 2024 Second + Pick 27 --> (WB) Bailey Smith + 2024 Second

AFL Phantom Draft
Pick 1 (WCE): Reid
Pick 2 (GC matched bid):
Pick 3 (NM): McKercher
Pick 4 (NM): Duursma
Pick 5 (Haw): Nicholas Watson (small fwd)
Pick 17 (Haw matched bid): William McCabe (lanky KPD)
Pick 50 (Haw matched bid): Calsher Dear (tall fwd)

AFL Rookie Draft

Pick 3 (Hawthorn): Jacob Blight (21 year old KPD)

Starting 22
B: Sicily Blanck Hardwick
HB: Weddle Scrimshaw Jiath
C: D’Ambrosio Smith Amon
HF: CMac Chol Moore
F: Watson Lewis Breust
Fol: Reeves Newcombe Day
Int: Ward Nash Maginness Ramsden

HB: BMac Blight Mitchell
C: Morrison Hustwaite
HF: Butler DGB Stephens
F: Bennetts Ryan O’Sullivan
Fol: Meek Mackenzie Worpel
Int: Tucker Dear

At pick 17( 1025 pts), we need 800 points(Pick 24) for McCabe bid. There are no picks in your trade. We have traded the F1, so can't trade any of F2/F3/F4 for points.

Don't have F1 & our F2 will get eaten up by points, maybe even F3 will get pushed back. So 2024 draft will start around Pick 50. If some player wants out and we get picks in, it will get eaten by deficit. Hampers trades.

We can trade the 2025 picks and/or F2/F3/F4 for players. that's it.

Not sure I am comfortable with it. Essendon are not asking for pick 53 for Ambrossio( trade F4), neither should we give it. Same way Eagles will gladly offer 53 & 58 for Brocky, our aim is to do better.

We should aim to get the 3-4 junk picks of Sun in Chol trade.

There are definitely some that don't understand talls take time. That said - that he won't be ready for senior footy straight away as a KPP won't dissuade recruiters if he is good enough to go first round. I'd rather have the points ready and if we are getting some 3rd round picks in for Brockman and Kosi I won't be stamping my feet about it like some here seem intent on doing. Something is infinitely better than nothing.

I'm writing him off already. Delist.

Media saying we're asking for a pick in the early 20s for Brocky. Could go PSD this one.
Atlast, HFC seems to have some sane list managers.

Obviously we start high. Then we hit a correct equilibrium of 39+53/58

On the purported trade for Suns pick 4 from Dogs, I bet the dogs can do better by trading their 10+17 for Cats 7+F2/F3. They still get Caddy or Sullivan or even Watson if he slides( assuming we take Durrsma). No need to give up their F1.

10+17 for Gws pick 6 or makes sense if GWS has eye on late talent, GWS don't have a useful pick after the teens.
