Take it from an umpire, it's not about an intercept or the distance of the kick, it's the fact he was clearly balanced and steady with ample time to dispose of the ball. My only explanation was the umpire was either caught off guard by the run down tackle or deemed the ball knocked out before the tackle was laid, but even then it's typically paid. They've never called holding the ball when the kick is shorter than 15. Especially an intercept
Can we get some real commentators
More heat needs to be on players to do stupid snap shots on goals straight in front and miss.Kick a drop punt ffs
You can't lose what you didn't have in the first place. What plot?Umpires have lost the plot
You're right under normal play but he obviously thought it was a mark otherwise he'd have disposed of the ball. Hence why the umpires give leeway. Don't get me wrong, I think it should be a free-kick but the umpires do not pay it. This instance was no different. But he didn't hold it.
He dropped it after prior opportunity.
So no other decision available except a free kick against.
See this is the thingIt’s also pathetic that none of the other field umps overruled the decision
I’m pretty sure he’s better than most of our backlineThere are 1000+ footballers playing in the bush and state leagues who are better than Frampton. He's absolutely stealing a living because he's tall.
It's genuinely embarrassing.

Like another F50 dropped mark just then, been plenty of those.See this is the thing
Saints and Lyon will pin the whole night on this decision
When they had a zillion opportunities but were a mess when it mattered
100%. From that distance as a professional athlete a drop punt should be straight forwardMore heat needs to be on players to do stupid snap shots on goals straight in front and miss.

Who gives a shit what he thought. Play to the whistle. It was an eternity that he had it, how long was he going to wait for the whistle to come? You're right under normal play but he obviously thought it was a mark otherwise he'd have disposed of the ball. Hence why the umpires give leeway. Don't get me wrong, I think it should be a free-kick but the umpires do not pay it. This instance was no different.
It was a 12 point turnaround from a gutless non-decision in the last quarter. There was not a single moment tonight that was more influential.See this is the thing
