I don't want to see anyone bagging Maurice this week. The little things he does off the ball help us massively. Get to the game and watch. He is one of the only players (Grlj another) who bust a gut every contest.

He played very well today. He needs to do that consistently, which of course he hasn't. I hope he keeps it up.

Our skills were awful today. I don’t want people using the kids as scapegoats when our senior players were playing like that. The fact we lost all 4 quarters says enough.

Fawcett had a solid second game. Loved his second quarter. Grlj was great in the first half. Lalor was great in the last quarter. MRJ was solid.

Big question marks on our coaching staff. We knew Port would outrun us from defensive 50 chains (they’ve done this every time playing against Yze), so why did we play all of Hopper, Taranto, Ross, and Prestia in the midfield? He needed to try something else instead of locking in the loss Thursday night. Too vanilla with his coaching and selections. Winning clearances and contested possessions didn’t matter one bit in the end because of the mix he picked

That's the disappointing thing. You can't preach selection integrity but then continue selecting Hopper every week.

Brown and Banks are Squibs and give us no drive , we are on the bottom for a reason

Disappointing today.

1) Faull - lead up at the football young man. Wrestling Alir Alir from the front position isn't going to work. I would hope he could have worked that out after the first half dozen lost contests.

2) Steely Green - young players can be excused for a lack of composure sometimes, but not every time. Just looks very rushed each time he gets his hands on the footy.

3) Ben Miller - why isn't Miller one of our preferred kickers coming out of the backline? I've been disappointed with Short (for a long time) and Banks (this season) with their inability to find a target coming out of D50. Miller is our best kick in the D50. We need to use him in the same way Melbourne used Steven May

4) Midfield - as others have said, we win contested ball and then butcher it. So frustrating. Oppo clubs will play -1 at the contest and +1 behind the ball against our midfield all day long. They can so easily hurt our slow, unskilled midfield on the rebound.

I'm a regular critic of Maurice Rioli, but he was in our best players today. What I will say is that shows how shite the rest of the team was.

Prestia/Taranto/Hopper/Ross. Its too hard with these guys in the midfield, the game went past this type of player years ago. Their disposals are useless. You would honestly rather 1 Butters clearance than 10 of theirs. We play 4 of them somehow. Needs to be 1 max.

Not that we are good enough anywhere else on the ground anyway.

One of the worst games in a very long time against a beatable team. Absolute garbage. Can’t kick. Can’t hand pass. Can’t tackle. No structure

Watch any other team kick the ball inside 50. There's always players leading at the ball carrier but then you watch us and it's completely opposite to how everyone else in the comp plays.
Something needs to change.
I don't think it's Yze as we were doing this in the back end of Dimma's time here.

Jayden Short gets so much of the ball but if you actually look at how he uses it, he just bombs it 9 times out of 10 and it's just completely useless for us. His stat sheet looks great but he fails the eye test.
As does Hopper. I pray that Cumming dominates tomorrow and Hopper gets dropped for Gather Round. Yze needs to drop him and I'll keep parroting on about it until he does.

I can't wait for Hotton to come back, I'm desperate for this midfield mix to change. I don't know why we stick with Taranto, Hopper and Prestia. They have no issues winning the ball out of the middle but they all just butcher it.

Things need to change or no progress will be made.

At least Fawcett is a target. He's the most Lynch-like tall we have. Shame about half of his kicks.

Re: Short. Been saying this shit for 5 years. It was disguisable previously because we had players who could make his long kicks in hope look good. I'm so ****ing over his "not my problem anymore" kicks.

Drop Hopper and Ryan. Give OHB a shot.

Our list has a massive hole in the 50-150 games range, especially mid 20s.

6.12 + 5 out on the fulls... We had our moments but conversion hurt us.
Need to get Lalor involved more, the guy wins the ball whenever he's involved but is rotting away in the forward line for too long.
Even with Ryan's brainfades in the 3rd it was still better than using Lefou and Gray. If he is suspended play OHB.
Fawcett good, would have been better if Allir was called more for his shoves.
Ports connection I50 was the main difference imo.
