What about Daniel Currie from North?

If delisted you'd take Currie because he is someone who can play if required. You wouldn't pay to get him though. He's someone you'd only recruit as a depth guy when we've been able to have Ben Hudson these past couple of seasons do more than enough as a rookie.

Well he would only be a Back Up for a Short Term and I think we could do worse. Be better then Wood. Seen him play well at times for North and Werribe

As stupid as it may have sounded back in 2012 Wood is going pretty well this year. In his past two games he's managed 69 and 77 hitouts at VFL level which while more an indication of how poor his competition at VFL level is suggests he's much improved on who he was as a player who at VFL level never had the ability while a part of the Collingwood list to take advantage of any opponents.

In his Collingwood days Wood was more interested in fooling around, travelling and chasing girls and telling them he plays for Collingwood and happy just to make up the numbers. Last year he for the first time since 2009 showed improvement and this year he's to the surprise of everyone but Mick Malthouse going ok.

Watching Hudson play so well in the VFL every week I'd have no problem bringing him back. It's an outcome I'd be very happy with.

You just have to have plans in place for the situation he doesn't want to play on a further season. He's 35 now, 36 next season. Not many guys at that age want to keep going around, whether it's mind or body. If he can get up for another year and continue to do what he's doing then that keeps that need at bay for another year.

Yeah that is true, if he does go on for one more year I think that we will reach a point were Witts and Grundy start to reach maturity and we wont need a mature age back up as much

So you are saying maybe the Penny has Finally Dropped with Wood and is now putting in the work we wanted.

So would you Chase Wood back to Collingwood then?

He may be starting to understand what it takes.

Do I want him back? Nope.

McCartin number 1? To me he comes across as someone who has physically developed early and 192-3 cms he could be to short to hold down a KP at AFL level.

My feel is that draft is more needs based.

Brisbane NEED a key forward.

Just as Melbourne need some run and carry which is why Pickett is at 5.

It's more needs than best available but McCartin is very, very good.

Wright is my no.1 but McCartin could be the next best guy in the draft such is the dominance of his play. He's an 18 year old but the same height as Roughead. He'll be fine. His ground level work is good enough.

Roughead is older then he is when he started he was still playing on guys like Chris Grant who was about 190cm. When you look at KP players drafted recently most are up around the 200cm mark going forward this will make it hard for him to compete seeing he is giving away the height. Do you from seeing him think that he is a guy who has developed earlier then others there for stands out in under 18 footy?

McCartin is more physically developed than most at his age. Without question. He looks like an AFL footballer out there amongst a bunch of school kids.

But so was Jack Darling and Jesse Hogan who was equally highly rated and would be doing incredibly well if he was healthy.

With McCartin I feel it's his professionalism that more than his bulk makes him so good at u18 level as much as that size advantage does help at u18 level.

I see with key forwards the question being more do they or don't they have key forward talent? McCartin unlike so many has got key forward talent.

It's nice if guys are 200cm and dominant. But it's not a requirement at the position to be that tall.

Sub 190cm key forwards I'd be asking "can you push into the midfield?" But otherwise the only advantage I'd give those super tall key forwards is the edge when evaluating their potential upside because as super tall guys they're more likely than someone shorter to still be growing into their bodies and have the greater physical and footballing development left.

McCartin isn't someone to be concern about when talking height. But on key forwards pushing into the midfield with his pretty good ground level skills, incredible physical and competitive edge and footskills he could well also be used not only as that deep no.1 forward target which he does so well but also as radical as my view is I can see him pushing up into the midfield for stretches as Roughead did successfully last season and Pavlich can. He's certainly got the right mix of traits to do that also.

I'd take Wright first because he is as good as McCartin but then has the extra height and versatility but McCartin is still a very good no.2/3 pick this year for a team screaming out for a dominant key forward.

Thanks for that, apparently Vic Metro played Darcy Moore as a mid in the last quarter at 200cm tall what is that all about?

I reckon that if you look deep into the history books, Rucks that have gone high in the draft have often disappointed. Kreuzer, Leunberger, Fraser, off the top of my head. And in recent drafts, recent history, rucks have been sliders, Brody Grundy not being picked until pick 18.

Now that could change the books in the future one way or another, Grundy sliding that is, but for this reason I can easily see this Peter Wright guy sliding in the coming draft.

I reckon that Melbourne will finish below Richmond and that we might be able to offer them our first round and a KP defender for their first round if that nets us a quality KPF. The complication there though is we would want Frawley as a KPD replacement through FA.

Offer Roos a director of coaching gig in 2016 and let him prosecute the case at Melbourne.

Well Richmond can not buy a win at the moment also we already have one potential star key forward guaranteed to us in this draft why do we need to trade out someone like Brown to get another tall forward

The question with Durdin is, is he a key forward or key defender? There is no clarity as to which is his best postion.

Wright some despite my preference for him forward like him as a ruckman.

It just depends on the evaluation.

Isn't McCartin a diabetic, not being a medical person or suffering from it how will that effect his football?

I don't think it would be any problem for a club drafting him. There are a few diabetics playing. They would have high quality dietitians at every club that would help him manage it to a professional level.

He is. But he has managed it for a few years now.

It's for the clubs to assess but it speaks to his professionalism and attention to detail that he's playing as well as he is despite it.

Brayshaw looks like a great prospect through the guts, cant help but to think at this stage that GWS will take him or Clem Smith as a bolter to fill a need.

and the top 5 key position prospects seem so close on talent that it seems that the best player will be the one gets developed the best.
and Knightmare, i remember the 2012 draft there was some controversy over Dees taking Viney as a f and s pick, what was the issue that made it complicated?

I say if GWS have Pick 2 or 3 they will take Durdin or Goddard as a Key Defender. They are Rated lot Higher then those 2 Mids

Nothing complicated with Viney. He just went second round because GWS didn't nominate him with one of their first three picks allowing Melbourne to take him second round.

He was rated a consensus top 10 selection so great value but thanks to Melbourne having pick 4 overall (eventually Toumpas) it allowed Melbourne to take Jack in the second round.

I wouldn't get so excited on Clem Smith. Brayshaw is a top 5 prospect, Clem Smith more a late 1st round at this stage.

and Dee’s Tanked to make sure they got such a Low Pick.

Brayshaw be Pick 5 as I can’t see him going ahead of Wright,Goddard,McCartin and Durdin
