I wasn't keen on Gorringe when it was Gorringe or Lycett. I don't think he attacks the ball hard enough. But, as a delisted free agent Gorringe is a steal who fits our list. I'm not at all fussed about the Gorringe tantrum. He wanted to get out of Gold Coast to play somewhere with a future. The Gold Coast dynamic sounds like it was pretty toxic and apparently Dan didn't fit into the factions. You only need to look at the mass of talent Gold Coast had on their list at inception, and look at where they are now, to see that their development is shocking. I don't have a problem with someone trying to save their football career. If he plays for Port next year (or somewhere else) I just want him to back up his words with some more aggression on the ground.

I noticed him in the U/18 championships and made some comments in one of the threads here that he looks good but lamented his lack of height given how many small guys we had on our list that werent performing. But geez he was impressive in the Sanfl finals especially the GF and having watched Sammy Gray turn it around, and Ah Chee stepped up as a big bodied mid, I wouldnt be upset if our recruiters drafted him. Like Sammy he is a natural footballer and natural midfielder.

What happened to the strict criteria of 'big arsed warriors with a healthy dose of mongrel'™ though?

:D

He's got a bit of mongrel and give him time and he will develop that and a footballers arse - he has to to survive at his height.

Hey Honeyboy Wilson , I am interested in your opinion on a couple of the SA kids. (if you have one)

Based on a couple of minutes of youtube footage i was impressed by Mason Redman. He moves really well and takes a nice mark. He looks like he has a lot of upside seeing he gets a lot of clearances but looks like a forward. Also, Jay Brind has an interesting profile. He looks a bit tubby but there is some talent there.

Finally, Tahana looks good but he doesn't get the ball much. Is he just a half back flanker or could be a tagger with some hurt factor?

I like Redman, he looks like a footballer if that makes sense. The way he plays just says "yup, he's a footballer". I don't know if his ceiling is very high with nothing quite outstanding about him, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he has an impact at AFL level.

Don't know that much about Jadyn Brind. I remember noticing him as a sorta small forward? Just pulling up his highlights on ye olde YT..

...ah yup. Obviously my opinion won't mean too much cos you can see the same things I can, but very composed for someone so quick. Good hands. Inconsistent kick it seems. It says he's listed at 181cm, but looks smaller. Interesting to see where/if he goes in the draft.

Tahana I really like. I see him as someone capable of going in the midfield - I wouldn't even place the tagger role on him specifically. I'd love him to develop into an outside mid that can also hold his own on the inside, which I think he has the potential to do. His footskills and decision making are top notch, which I guess is why he's been used off a HBF so much, but he can deliver into forward 50 with the best of 'em.

Redman looks really impressive as a Monfries style lead up HFF. Good frame, should be able to build his body up and work through the midfield.

Redman i think more parker but stockier and not as quick

Sounds Like a Port Player..

Josh Deluca

Age: 19
Club: Fremantle (2014)
Games: 0

2015 summary: Arrived at the club with bone bruising and played with Peel Thunder but was sidelined with a stress reaction in his leg for the last two months of the season. Will be re-rookied if available.
Pros: One year in the system and still boasts elite speed and agility Freo saw in him when fit.
Cons: Is coming off injury and didn't play at a great standard in the WAFL after being eased into the season.

We have one in Clurey, then there is Austin. I'm happy for us to bypass a KPD for another 12 months. 5 KPDs & 3 shorter capable guys is more than enough.
I would also include Dougal Howard as a potential key defender as he appeared to adapt well when used there this year.

Yeah KPD's are not even close to a concern for us now. Jonas, Carlile, Trengove, O'Shea, Hombsch, Clurey and Austin are all capable of playing tall. Additionally Howard is capable. Hell even Butcher has spent some time down back.

It would take probably 4 injuries, at the same time, to really hurt us in this area.

Our needs are a backup ruck, inside mid, balanced in/outside mid. Then rookie list the fastest natural ball winners we can find.

Powerful, nuggetty and aggressive with a fair bit of footy nous, but...

I don't think he's clean or polished enough to succeed in the AFL.

Agree but would include a high quality Betts/Walters type goal sneak.
