Considering our first is pick 3, we would probably need a lower first round pick in return.

If GWS finish 5th, that pick is pick 14. Pick 3 and next years second for Lobb, McCarthy and 14?

Lobb is worth way more than pick 3. We would have to add more especially if McCarthy is being included.

A super mobile Fwd/ruck (2.05m)
With goods skills
Good set shot - averaging 1.2 goals
Contested marking beast - 2nd in AFL for contested marks.
And he's only 23yrs old.

You say that Gav56, but if your old enough to remember 2001 Draft Hodge, Ball, Judd, Polak.
Just for laughs Hale went at pick 7.
I like that bit. I am old enough to forget, pre-dating you on this site by 5 years!!! But I also remember that the club was going to take Polak at #1 which was why the whole episode unfolded.

PS; By the way I agree with your other comment about looking for a single player to solve our issues, and that Headland and Carr fit that mold. But Croad, MacPharlin and Polak came in that year to partner Pavlich and Brown, in a move that should have given us a golden spine right through until last season all going well. Achieving that in any draft/trade year would be a pretty amazing outcome.

Averaging 11 disposals, 7 hitouts and 1.2 goals a game as a ruck/forward this year. Will probably end up with about 30 goals at the end of the year.

Has age on his side so he's worth a first rounder, but I don't think we'd need to give up pick 3 on its own.

The dark old days back then, and we have had some success, but the club has always looked for a quick fix A grader, instead of chasing a young
B grader with upside, value.
Croad, Elvis cost us pick 1, 20, 36, in a superdraft, Polak was a talent, skilled player, but whatever it takes to be a champion, he did not possess
those attributes. This is why McCarthy is worth a gamble, but not at any price.

Time to upper cut yourself, lobbe is worth every inch of pick 3 ( this year, and for FFC only)
People tend to overlook the whole proven v unproven aspect of drafting v trading.
Lobbe is a ready made prototype ruck/fwd that could have an immediate impact. Not only this, to secure a proven kpf, nay ruckman in a draft is still much harder to pick than the plethora of mids and flankers available each year.
We'll be desperately short of a quality ruck in years to come and don't have the luxury of drafting a project ruck.
Imagine the spine of Ap, Collins, lobbe, McCarthy/tabs and apeness - that's a handy, versatile and very mobile bunch of KPP's.
The contested marking aspect of AFL is becoming so vital that any player with this strength Is likely to be valued as highly as those with immaculate foot skills.

Might I add, gws just wouldn't do it, they really don't have need for picks this year - they'd be compromising their list disposing of lobbe for the reasons I've noted above

Not sure if anyone has said it yet but langdon is as good as gone. 110% sure of it.

If this is true we should be playing deluca instead of him on Saturday

In a way yes and in a way no. Play Langdon for the rest of the year and show him off to other clubs to try and increase his value, right now hes not worth much. Still don't get why Ross didn't play him, especially when Weller has games where he does nothing and stays in the team.

Lobb isn't worth a top 5 pick. Probably worth a mid-late first rounder.
Yep because tall, young contested marking beasts go for nothing at trade time. Id bet anything you like GWS would knock back a trade of pick three for Lobb. They don't need more mids.
