Posted this on the Prestia thread, but relevant here also. What do you guys think about;

North give up: Pick 11, Pick 65, Lachy Hansen.
North receive: Pick 6, Pick 40.

Richmond give up: Pick 6, Pick 40.
Richmond receive: Dion Prestia, Lachy Hansen, Pick 65.

Gold Coast give up: Dion Prestia.
Gold Coast receive: Pick 11.

Smiles all 'round?

We might as well just give Pick 11 to GC for Prestia then.......

totally different circumstances. With Waite we were having a fair crack at a flag, because we believed we were close. He was a genuine key position player as well which are significantly harder to find.

We've only just come out this week and admitted we need to get good young kids into the side, and their development would take precedence over champions of our club in Boomer and co.

How can you say that you need to develop and re-fresh the list on one hand then come out and recruit a 27 year old plodder with a limited future. A player whose position (half forward/half back) we already have adequate young depth. Its totally hypocritical.
Yup

This thread is my favourite thread, you build me up I get excited. I wait, I check again, I read between the lines, make a phone call, log back on and am convinced. I wait til trade week and we end up with five fifths of * all most years. But I still look forward to it, "hope" is a wonderful feeling.

Given we have cut Boomer, I find it difficult to believe we won't be uber aggressive donks come trade period, be it in form of picks and/or players coming back our way.

As it's perceived as a very even draft it makes sense to cut deep whilst we can and hit the draft hard.

That said, would the following be acceptable in the new normal of list management and player retention etiquette in addition to serving our future needs?

Swallow + Mullet + 2017 2nd rounder to Gold Coast for picks 21,22.

Hansen + 82 for Sydney's pick 32-36 (perfect fit for them)

Black + 46 for Freo's pick 40.

Gibson + 28 + 46 to Lions for pick 20 & 57

That way we we would hit the draft with picks: 10, 20, 21, 22, 32, 40 & 57.

I think this sort of thing is the way to go and will see us rise back up pretty quickly. We don't need that much.

i'd put on the trade table Hansen, Gibson, Cunnington and Atley

although it would have to be something very good for ats
Something very good for Atley but not Cunnington?

Cunnignton >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Atley and that's not even enough of these things: >

If clubs haven't figured out that Atley is awful yet and still think he has value then he would be the first of our established players that I would prefer to see traded.

That would actually be really sensible trading if we were 100% commited to building this club back up again through the draft.

Couple of things....

I think instead of GC's picks 21 and 22 you could have a crack at pick 9? As they will most likely be getting a high pick off Richmond for Prestia.

Hansen + 82 for Sydney's 32 is a steal for us. Take it and run.

We don't have pick 46, I believe it was part of the Bastinac deal to Brisbane? However I think Black + 65 would get it done for Freo's pick 39.

What?

Maj for one of their 1st rounders & Steele or GTFO.

Shirt sales alone they will clean up.
True.
I suppose the point is that Maj gives us currency to trade without losing a core player or high draft pick - things we need more than anything with a reinvigoration of the list. Plus he wants more opportunity. Win - win - win.

The fact we are at pick 11 and the need for more 1st rounders should suggest we are not going the full draft rebuild. I figure we will attempt the Cats route, as we have with the retirements. More Wallet genius.

Ok.. Cheers, the other thing is we don't really know what we'll need the following year for the academy and father son boys.

Swallow + Mullet + 2017 2nd for Gold Coasts 21,22 is fair, I'm happy with that.

Hansen, 100 for Sydney's 2nd (32-36) is a good trade for them and adequate compensation for us. Perfect foil for Grundy and would be a star in their system.

Black, 82, 100 for Freo's 40. Quality player on his day might be happier at home near mummy.

Gibson + 28 + 64 to Lions for pick 20. I can dream. He'd set the standards pre season and that could end up being worth a 2 year deal. For 8 spots in the draft. Why not, they have enough kids.

You would then either take picks 10, 20, 21, 22, 32, 40 to the draft or alternatively we could package up 10, 20, 21 to the Dogs for Stringer.

The ******* 'List manger' has spoken.

This idea that we have to completely bottom out and next years pick will be in the first 4 is completely ridiculous imo. The only player that we have lost that is irreplaceable is Boomer.

Depending on what happens during the trade/free agency period a genuine argument could be made that we'll actually be better next year.

Ty may have played last game for Richmond at any level

FREE agent Ty Vickery may have played his last game for Richmond at any level, with the tall forward in doubt for Saturday's VFL game with a hand injury.

Vickery played in a glove to protect his injured left hand against Geelong back in round 21 and it is understood the problem was aggravated in the VFL last weekend.

While coach Damien Hardwick has repeatedly stated Vickery is an important part of the Tigers' future, the club is yet to come to terms with the 26-year-old while players around him are re-signed.

A restricted free agent in the upcoming NAB AFL Trade Period, it is possible the Tigers have seen the last of Vickery if he is withdrawn from the VFL squad on Saturday.

"He's got a bit of a sore hand at the moment, so we're not even sure if he's going to play tomorrow," Hardwick said as the Tigers flew out of Melbourne on Friday.

When pressed on Vickery's future, Hardwick again stated his commitment to keeping the 200cm goalkicker.

"Ty's a quality guy. He's an important part of our future. He's kicked close to 30 goals this year and has consistently over the course of his career," the coach said.

Hardwick was keeping his cards close to his chest on list management issues on Friday, refusing to be drawn on Gold Coast midfielder Dion Prestia's request to join the club.

He praised fellow Suns midfielder Jaeger O'Meara, who has requested a trade, but said the Tigers' list management strategy would stay strictly in-house.

On popular ruckman Ivan Maric, who is out of contract and playing in the VFL, Hardwick said the club would discuss his future at the end of the season.

AFL.com.au understands the Tigers are one of a number of clubs in informal discussions with the 30-year-old's management about a dual playing and coaching role for 2017.

"We'll sit down and have the chat with Ivan. He's an incredible person and an incredible character around our footy club and we'd love to see that continue in some way," Hardwick said.

"We'll sit down at the end of the year and have the discussion about Ivan. He was very close to playing this week, he had a terrific game in the VFL."

The Tigers are looking to rebound from a disappointing performance against St Kilda in round 22 when they take a young team to face the Sydney Swans at the SCG on Saturday.

Exciting young tall Mabior Chol will make his debut, while Alex Rance will play his 150th game in an anticipated match-up on Swans superstar Lance Franklin, who remains in some doubt with a hip complaint.

"It's gone quick Alex's 150 games … he's an incredible player and they've had some great battles over the years," Hardwick said.

"Whether he takes him the whole time – 'Buddy' has obviously changed a bit with the way he plays being up the ground at various stages.

"But they've had some great contests and this is going to be a good one as well."

The list manager, the same guy who

Recruited Jordan McMahon for a high pick
Drafted: Jarrad Oakley Nicholls, Richard Tambling

We have Barratt calling us amateurs

What next, Dean Rioli saying we aren't fit enough?

Not you mate. It's what the club has preached to us all week after culling the 4 old boys
