I really hope we're monitoring Bailey Williams this season. He was taken at pick 48 in 2015 draft and we were keen but we only had 2 first round picks who we used on Milera & Doedee.

He is an SA boy from Glenelg and came from no where late in the season. He had a 50+ possession game for Glenelg in under 18s in his draft year. He is a good sized midfielder, works well in traffic, is clean and has good skills by hand and foot. He finds a lot of it too which is what we need with so many skilful outside players who don't quite find enough of the pill. Would complement the Crouch boys.

He's out of contract this season but can't break into the Bulldogs side. I reckon he could be ready to really have a legitimate impact in 2018. Could maybe throw them a 3rd rounder.

Would love Williams at the Crows, showed some good signs in the games he played for the Dogs last year.

Still think we should be going hard at Trent Dumont. Very good skills for an inside mid, wins clearances, and is a bigger body than the likes of Sloane and Mrouch.

I'll be very dissapointed if we have no interest in Dumont. Should have got him last year before his stocks skyrocket.

He's an accumulator but the knock in him has always been whether he's damaging or not.

When you have the footy, the opposition doesn't. An ineffective disposal is still better than the opposition having an effective disposal. We needed accumulators against Sydney.

Conversely you need the opposition to have the footy deep in their forward half in order for the slingshot that we were so masterful at last year to be possible.

I reckon this is where Brisbane and Collingwood fall down traditionally. Content to neatly pass the ball around between the arcs after winning possession, rather than take a risk through the guts when the forwards have a paddock to run into.

Why didn't we try for Mitchell from hawks.
38 possession today

Which Mitchell?

The one that wanted to go back to Melbourne or the one who left for a assistant coaching job with a mate?

If Freo are really s**t again, and Fyfe gets a whopping 1.5mil offer maybe the AFL would give Freo a pick after their own as well as an end of 1st round pick too. (Didn't geelong get two first round picks for Ablett?)
As long as Freo decided not to match the offer.

Ablett didn't leave as a FA. He went as one of GC's startup concession players, and the AFL made the rules to suit.

Hawthorn didn't get a 2nd FA compensation pick when Franklin left. There's no reason to think that Freo would be treated any differently.

Players who say they are leaving for success are a load of s**t. At first when we had 2 crap years under sando danger said his decision would come down to success, then when Walsh came in and we started playing well and went deep into September that tube changed a bit to family reasons....

Granted. In fact, do we actually know of any players from any team who have maintained that they are leaving for success? If there were any, did they succeed? Anyway, Fyfe has let slip that he is looking forward to the next five years at Freo.

Treloar said he picked Collingwood over Richmond as he felt they were better placed for success. Jurys out on that one.

Then there's the famous Nathan Buckley precedent.

Yeah, but the Treloar thing would be a second-order effect: he wouldn't have been leaving GWS to either Melbourne team "for success".
Buckley dim in the memory, but wasn't that one of those cases where he was drafted to where everyone knew he didn't want to go and was always going to Collingwood ASAP?

Correct. They drafted him, and he played 1 season. He then requested to be traded to Collingwood, to find success.
Brisbane premierships during his career - 3
Collingwood premierships during his career - 0
