Thing is, I feel like if this happened last year, we'd still be blaming Burton and not Noble. Just because he's from Bris.
Probably.

Im not super critical because its obvious our fitness is helping us be such a dominant team. Gotta push the limits and yet we cant afford to lose any more. A fine line.

Is it worth it if we're running over the top of teams?

There's a tipping point obviously where too many players out (and certain key players out) will overwhelm us but is there an acceptable attrition rate?

Yes, it's worth it.

Remember back to 1997-98 where we overran many a side.

Casualties along the way included many players who went on to be pivotal - Goodwin in 97, Johnson in 98, Bond, Roo in 1997, Jameson, Bond, Robran - all missed chunks of time with soft tissue issues. Other fringe players such as Standfield. We ran so thin at times the we debuted both types of Cook and Linden Stevens played a final.

If you are going to push the envelope with fitness there will be issues - but if you don't it may be playing it too safe for elite sport.

Hamstrings are a concern. Has been a change in training load after some input from the leadership group so hopefully we don't see any more.
Doedee's shoulder just a one-weeker?

Maybe he healed?

The injury list usually isn't updated until after the round has concluded, which means that we either took him off the list before it started, or we never put him on it to begin with, making it appear that he was fit to play this weekend but didn't.

I can't be bothered looking it up, but one of us who attended the open training session reported that Talia "looked proppy". Then, he does his hammy innocuously on his first kick in the match. Coincidence?
Good pick up! Was that silly fellow ?

He wasn't even kicking! He did it jogging.....

It's obviously better we're getting this info now rather than round 15..... but we have to take action. It's already out of control

Put some plans in place and action them. Find the balance

Lade said on 5aa after the showdown that we are the hardest running side in the comp

Leon Cameron said in an interview in Syd after their round 1 loss that the feedback from his players was that our running capability was elite

With this in mind we are obviously pushing the envelope and need to adjust to find that fine line however with that said we are 5-0 and our conditioning has obviously contributed to our game style and wins

The club needs to adjust accordingly but we still need to keep treading that fine line to ensure that we maintain our running capablcity which is key to our game plan

You can't bank the rewards without taking some level of risk
I've heard that the club does more running than any team in the afl and this preseason had a focus on leg weights, this is from a physio with connections at the club. Obviously a direct correlation but hopefully the loadings can be adjusted before the end of the season.

I'm all for a good analysis of why we're getting these injuries as opposed to a year like last year (obviously luck comes into it), but it's not really time to get hysterical and jump to conclusions. It's times like these on big footy that everyone turns into a specialist.

Leg weights only during pre-season

Has Talia ever had a hammy before?
I don't remember one if he has. This is surely an indicator of some serious screw ups in our training routine. They need to sort this ot
Our biggest mistake this year. I hope it doesn't cost us a flag.
is it too late to reappoint Burton back into his job last year? I'm probably over reacting but my god I'd just sack Haas immediately. I've had enough of these hammys. If this keeps up it will cost us a premiership.

It was silly fellow. Was posted in the changes thread

How many more hammys until it's ok to jump to conclusions?

I was never comfortable with the way Burton came in for a year, happened to be the best available for a promotion, and then the person he likely chose to replace himself was the guy who worked under him at Brisbane and had been at the club for just 1 month, we were then left looking for a new strength and conditioning coach on the eve of the pre-season, I'm not even sure we found one, our clubs website only lists an assistant in that role now.

Anyway, we're claiming we want the best football department in the competition, Fages stated that was something we could control and an outcome we could achieve.

Hass was at Brisbane for 8 years, was overlooked for Burton's old role there for someone with a similar job title he had from Sydney. He comes here, and within a month is good enough to replace Burton as the General Manager High Performance at the Adelaide Crows? the club who claims they want the absolute best in the competition? I don't think that person is going to have come from spending 8 years in a lesser position at the Brisbane Lions, there is nothing about that team that suggests they've had any sort of "high performance" in the last decade.

Hopefully it's not too late to adjust this year because a few more to certain players could ruin our season.

Hass is the consequence of Burtons surprised promotion. Having said that Burton would have had a major say in our preseason program. There is no chance the new head of football isn't going to influence his old position especially when the new guy is a rushed appointment.
